If you like this board I highly recommend visiting tg for all sorts of traditional gaming pleasure, quests for the best quests on any *chan, storytiem for 3lewd5me sexual adventures. There is also twgrl for the Towergirls CYOA alone. Also, apparently there is builders. I dunno, seems cool.

In the process of moving to /fg/.

To raise my reputation to 100.

My elemental power is great for surviving the extreme temperatures of glacial and volcano, but yeah, I'm min-maxed, I should avoid getting hit at all.

damn, the most boring CYOA ever

Let's brainstorm, what are the qualities this CYOA is missing to make it interesting. If we can pinpoint that we have learned a valuable lesson for when we create on ourselves.

The setting is not necessarily dull, you're in a fantasy world fighting monsters. Awesome.

But why do the different monster contracts have to be so specific? Are there really only 14 types of monsters? That sounds boring and shrinks the world. Plus, we get a setting idea but never any specifics that tickle our imagination. No factions or history, no real backstory.

But then again that isn't really important, the reason to play a CYOA is for clever or personalized builds. The build system seems… lacking. You get to choose abilities from a list like perks in a video game. There's no real way to distinguish yourself from others, I think that's the problem with this CYOA.

even having to pick the monster that you will fight makes it dull, i want to imagine my own monsters that i will fight

it all seems too much like a game, these stats are a bit confusing and honestly a bit boring

every class expect for the wizard seems to be the same but with somewhat varying stats, a hunter can use a bow but can knights do the same? can nobles wield a hammer?

the skills are just active and passive abilities, might as well call it the MMO cyoa since it's like any rpg with not very strict classes

i agree that the game-ish features are the big turn off of this CYOA

Here's why the game is boring. One third is missing.

Hmm seems like it has potential. Think this could be a good underdog story as the setting seems so high fantasy. All it needs is a well fleshed out character.

Rather than see the monster as limited think of new versions based on the template given. Imagine how someone would feel if a creature the routinly fought suprised them by unleashing weird and unpredictable variants, suddenly turning an easy job to a struggle to survive.

>Culling

>having to fight your fellow hunters because just because

Sad to see a pretty nice CYOA go into the shitter like that.

>implying that isn't what saves this CYOA by adding stakes and urgency

 No.1595

>>1594

That can be achieved in a hundred other ways that don't suck so much.

>Recurring natural disasters

>Sudden appearances of especially dangerous monsters

>Shapeshifters take the forms of hunters and you got to be careful who you trust.

>Certain days of the year are connected to strong monster activity (Halloween with many spooks and undead, Aphelion with creatures from the shadows and darkness, Perihelion with angelic but pretty brutal monsters)

>You killed a monsters mother and now its baby has grown up into the meanest motherfucker around who is searching for you to end your life

 No.1596

>>1595

Yeah but you wouldn't have such clearly statted and diverse threats as other players.

 No.1597

>>1596

Plus, with PvP you can have discussions, alliances, builds as responses to other builds and potentially some roleplay.

It's an easy way to add some interaction to your CYOA, I don't know why not everyone uses it.

Went for a more evasion-tank build. Still not exactly more minmaxed, but does its job better than the first run I'd like to think. Skills are for a sort of spell-monk build. I changed license to bounty to not be so much like the last guy. With these three monsters using magic, it shouldn't be too hard to find and combat them using his powers to detect and nullify magic. So the gist would be that this dude rolls around and fists dragons for a living. During the culling, he probably wouldn't be as strong, fast, or hardy as a dedicated build, but would make up for it through sheer style. Vacation in winter as it would be the earliest affordable. It'd also be easier to be ready for the culling after having spent two months punching things to death, with ready healers for patching up before it starts.
