I feel like making a Pokemon CYOA but I don't want to waste my time if it's gonna end up as an R:2|I:0|P:13 type.

OP, if it has at least a single response ("chosen adventure report" post), then it's already not very bad.

That said, is this an OC thread? Would anyone here play a huge mecha-focused CYOA?

Should I get autistic by introducing stats if nobody will use my CYOA for tabletop gaming or RPing anyway?

Also, what do you anons think of point-based CYOAs? Do you think that they are superior to the strict "choose up to X" types or they are too complicated and give the adventurers too much freedom?

Is making and posting 2 different versions (simple and complicated) of a single CYOA a good idea?

Also, why barely anyone puts "drawbacks", "challenges", and "enemies" choices at the beginning of their CYOAs? Would it not be more convenient if the adventurer had to assign the bonus points as he starts, without the need to readjust everything as he gets the bonus points later?

No.

Always

The "choose opdions XDDD" ones are often the fucking worse, I can name exceptions like the angel roomate but over all they are reddit cshit.

Just give me point so i can powergame, fam

>Is making and posting 2 different versions (simple and complicated) of a single CYOA a good idea?

Yes. Just post it on the same thread

>Also, why barely anyone puts "drawbacks", "challenges", and "enemies" choices at the beginning of their CYOAs?

Because they are subhumans. Otherwise thei'd realize

If you will do it just to become """popular""" (on an anonymous forum no less) them don't do it and also go back to reddit.

If you want to do it, then do it. If you don't want to, then do not. Those who like this stuff will play it, those who don't like it won't.

I recall there being some anon who plays everything but always has the end goal of being fucked by whatever-was-its-name pokemon. So I'm guessing you can be sure there's going to be at least one guy who plays it.

And there's probably also gonna be someone who whines either that there's sex in it (if you make a lewd one) or that your content is not to his fine taste (if you make a non-adult CYOA). So, if you can't bear criticism you may want to rethink this.

In many cases the order doesn't matter as you won't know what you can or cannot deal with until you've seen all the options (for instance, I normally wouldn't pick a drawback that forces me to flash others, but if I can get a normality perk that prevents social consequences then such drawback may be acceptable).

Anyway, making a build involves cross-referencing and doing multiple passes if you're doing it properly, so the content itself is of more importance than the order it's presented in.

>choose up to X

This is also point-based, just more primitive (single point type, and every option costs 1 point).

Point systems are a tool in CYOA making. Having multiple point types and complex cost/gain system allows for making more engaging games and giving the players more freedom in build-making. But of course, it doesn't do any good if the CYOA itself sucks; so make sure to concentrate on making something fun first and foremost.

It depends on the choices, 9/10 I prefer the "Choose up to X" types, but if you know what you're doing then a point system can work.

>Is making and posting 2 different versions (simple and complicated) of a single CYOA a good idea?

Well it's not a bad one.

>Also, why barely anyone puts "drawbacks", "challenges", and "enemies" choices at the beginning of their CYOAs?

Because they're retarded.

I would love a pokemon CYOA. Don't know if you have ideas already but the kind I want the most is where you can make your own pokemon or eeveelution with options of choosing your design as a trainer, job, and locations.

That guy is a little bitch boy and catering to him would be gay. Don't recommend people supply furfags with fetish material.
