CYOA creating software/tips
I'm a poorfag that doesn't want to pay for photoshop, and I don't want to pirate it because I'm paranoid about the 0.0000001% chance that it's a virus or worm of some kind. So what are some free/dirt cheap methods of creating CYOAs?
I'm aware of GIMP but don't know how to work it worth shit.
(Also mods feel free to belete dis if you want. Odds are nobody here know what they're doing.)

GIMP is easier to understand than you might think.
I just threw an image in there one day and played around with the tools. Took maybe a month of on-and-off activities and reading to get the basics.
Now I'm working on my first CYOA.
People shit on GIMP, but if Adobe ever went full retard (and they're getting close to it already), the haters might regret it

I consider myself pretty normal and I couldn't figure it out. Not by your technique, not by watching tutorials.
Then again, maybe it's more that I was expecting to be able to do more stuff than in paint.net, which I'm familiar with, and all the stuff I couldn't already do with that is what tripped me up. I was able to get the same functionalities as my preferred program, but with more work and workarounds, so I stayed with the thing I had gotten used to, since there was no other difference between them for me.

You may want to check out the discussion on reddit about it (inb4 go back to plebbit)
I mean, the advice is very sound, but it's better not to limit your view to a single man's experience (both here and in general). That and some points in this can still be considered arguable… Like the part where he basically says "this guy's work is bad, mine is good" – that's not really what he says but still feels wrong, especially as he's criticising the guy with some of the best looking CYOAs – he may be using the same design but he makes great use of it and does a fairly good work at diversifying them (IMHO, of course).
But yes, other than that these advices are pretty solid (not surprising as it comes from one of the top CYOA authors I've seen… some of his tastes notwithstanding)

Go back to reddit. In all seriousness your point stands ironically even against your post. That image is flawed because there are taste issues and "voice" issues since that author clearly has an abundance of self love and therefore didn't make any effort (or enough effort) in making generic advice. In the same vein it would be foolish to learn the ways of reddit, since they are known rightfully as a cesspool of mimicry and a garbage pit for creativity.

That's not what I said
I said "check out discussion on reddit"
It contains an actual discussion (regarding pros & cons of this image), as well as some links to alternative sources of advice; which at the very least would somewhat diversify your information
As for him not making generic advice, he's probably just listed whatever points he himself had to learn/deal with before he could make decent content (and unless he's an experienced educator, that's about as much as you can expect from a single person, really)

I don't agree with the point about each CYOA being "unique". You are just reinventing the wheel every time. There's a benefit to all of your own CYOAs having the same overall design, ideally with different themes to match their content. If you have a good basic design, this allows you to iterate on it rather than throwing it out and starting over. It greatly accelerates the creation of new content, and it's nice to be able to recognize an author by his general design.
Beri's CYOAs are the best example. They use a mostly similar design that you can almost always instantly spot as Beri's work. They also have a similar tone and he often connects the settings, so the elements they have in common all support his CYOAs.
Just be careful you aren't making the same CYOA over and over. It's far worse to make the same CYOA with a different design than to make different CYOAs with the same design.

There is any application that help the creation of CYOAs on Android? Or I'm doomed to only be able to do text-only CYOAs with Microsoft Word app?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Android is only installed on handheld touchscreen devices, which are strongly unsuitable for any serious kind of work (including creative) due to input limitations.
Get yourself a proper computer and you're free to use whichever app you like for your CYOA-making needs (see the posts above for examples).
…And why the hell would you install MS Word on Android of all things? Microsoft products are basically cancer, and Android doesn't have a hard requirement for them, thankfully

Similar question but for Linux. Im guessing cyoastudio doesn't work for that OS?

It's a Java app so there shouldn't be any problem running it on Linux.
In case you don't know how to run it - install a Java package (version 8 or higher) and run a the app JAR file (the command would be something like java -jar app.jar)

Look up what "discussion" means, will ya?
And no, advices making sense doesn't mean you should follow them religiously (and you definitely shouldn't treat them like gospel)

So you think white background and yellow text matches well together? And it does not make the text hard to read?
