I was just about the furthest thing from close to my mom growing up since she emotionally/physically abused me after the divorce from my dad until I was 18 and was legally allowed to move out. My dad was really only ever in my brother and I's lives when it was convenient for him post-divorce and he was never very affectionate toward either of us. And since several other anons shared their own horror stories concerning dark pasts here ITT (wish I could hug you all, tbh), my first stepdad sexually abused me multiple times when I was 9 or 10, but I put him in prison a couple years ago so he's hopefully either dead or wishing he was now that he's surrounded 24/7 by people who see him at the bottom of the metaphorical food chain behind bars. If he gets parole, he'll luckily either break it as I was told most sex offenders do after they get out and go right back to the hell they were just let go from or stick one of his guns in his mouth and give the wall of his bedroom in his mom's basement a nice new shade of dark red with it. Even before that though, in hindsight, I now realize that the male characters in my favorite cartoons/anime growing up were more than just role models or people to look up to as a kid; I was physically attracted to them.
