I did everything I could. I listened to the "stay in school" meme and it worked out for me. Except I never had any friends and became socially inept. take a good look at the people who actually live for those things though, and what their lives are like. most live obviously miserable lives and over time this shit becomes a coping mechanism for the fact that theyve pissed away every opportunity to gain real happiness in life by doing too much of that shit when they were young and not thinking of the future. even the cool uncle stereotype with his bike and his new woman every weekend routine suddenly stops looking quite so impressive when you hit that point in life where you realise the importance of family.
