The real gripe isn't even just aesthetic - it's knowing what would have been the first half of my life was effectively gypped away by idiots who knew what's best. In your youth, you get used to your body performing like a finely-tuned engine day in and day out, and never expecting it to start malfunctioning until you hit true "old age". This isn't how it is.

Often it's just little shit, but it's still there. You can't regulate temperature as well anymore, so when it's really hot you feel dizzy, and when its real cold you need to put on a thicker sweater. Your digestion isn't perfect anymore, so you have to watch what you eat and your bowel movements will stop being regular and predictable. Your metabolism slows so you suddenly have to halve how much you eat (or the belly fat will pack on) and as a result you have less energy for long periods. Your sex drive crashes like a plane that just had its wings ripped off; cumming five times a day turns into once per day, than once per every three days, and sometimes only once per week; it's not that you can't jerk off every day… you just don't WANT TO anymore; and because of how fast time is going, this change that's actually gradual over five or ten years seems to have snuck up on you all at once. Everything slows down, so you can't bounce back as quickly anymore; if you have an extremely strenuous workday, you won't automatically be okay the next morning; you'll instead be sore and stiff. And then around your middle 30's this coating is gone, and now the metal of the pan is exposed and starts slowly but inexorably chipping away. Old age starts as soon as you leave college and is a gradual slowing all the way up to ~70 when it REALLY speeds up.

In your 20's, everything in your body is always performing perfectly, barring serious disease and injury. In your 30's you start to notice a few things going awry, as I mentioned. In your 40's it's a lot of things. In your 50's there's a tipping-point, where roughly half the things in your body work properly, and the rest do not. By the time you're 70 or 80, basically nothing is working right anymore; by that point you're not just an engine that hiccups (you're already THAT in your 30's), you're an engine held together by zip ties and duct tape that leaks and bangs and smokes and will probably explode at any time, that also hurts everywhere and all the time.

You should imagine that by the time you reach true old age at 80 or 90, you're going to be like Stephen Hawking. Your whole body is basically useless (maybe you can still walk, but it won't be fun), so if you can't imagine being alive in that state, with only your mind intact… well, maybe suicide is the only answer. Personally, as long as I have anime and video games (surely by then they'll have ones you control with your mind so I don't have to rely on arthritis-ridden fingers) and can still read and write, I will be fine. It will SUCK, but I can still find a reason to be alive.

I didn't want to live past 15 - and I had good reason not to. Looking back and looking ahead, I can't say I wasn't validated. And the magical anivideo games are going to really, really suck. Some relatively minor brain development is overhyped - and yeah, the number 18 specifically is meme-y, but I really meant that period of like 15-18 where performance is top and the body is still sleek and not overly test-damaged. Working management isn't a luxury of the rich, it's a fairly basic position which is not glamorous in any way. It is now something you can work a good 20 or so years to attain, so it's not uncommon today in this country to see middle-aged managers. There was a point in my life where I'd have been glad to get a house outside the city by watching somebody else's money for a fraction of it. I'm not high maintenance, but I can't really afford to wait two decades for a wage I can (barely) live on. That's not how life works.

This is a really weird reading of the service industry. You could just as well say that infrastructure is there to collect a paycheck - after all, it costs money. I admit I’ve got more experience with young women, but most people that age seem to behave that way by default. It’s almost natural to some kids. A -really- attractive teenager is one who can converse for more than eight seconds about a topic that isn’t trending on twitter. If they have a banging hot body too, it’s a bonus, not the grand prize.

In any dating arena you’ve got a real chance with eh, 10% of prospects in your field of view. Maybe less, but even if you’re hideous, there is almost always one person who might be into you. If you spend all night trying to court the hottest boy/girl in the club you’ll go home alone.

Now I’m sure that I’m not the norm. It wouldn’t surprise me to find out that the thirsty old dudes are also just playing their part… but here’s the thing: if you know what you’re doing, then what in God’s name has you jerking around gross old foreigners instead of flirting with people who are actually attractive to you? Of any age?

If you’re just a vapid teenager waiting for your brain to catch up to your looks then okay, but if you are really that self-aware then what is it that keeps you coming back? You know that there are young good-looking guys who want to spoil cuties like you, right? Even if you don’t have to put out?

Spoken like somebody who's never tried. I have a history of following good (supposedly) instructions for this stuff. Now it's possible that my carotids are just in the wrong place or something, but I think it's as likely that whatever I do my chances of actually dying as prescribed are pretty low. So I'll probably get a good hour of bleeding out even when resorting to a gun where the chances of failure are like 5% or so and it's supposed to be instant.
