I actually had regular communication with Lindsay via skype. In fact, I may have been the very last person she talked to online before she was arrested, since late at night, the night before news of her arrest was made public, I received a message from her telling me one of the TSA guys gave her a very strange look at the airport…. What is especially strange, too, is that I've known her for a long time, nearly 6 years. I originally communicated with her via deviantArt (yeah, I know, don't laugh), but after a while we got to talking on Windows Live Messenger (back when it still existed) and later Skype. I even had a few Skype voice calls with her before, too.
I guess I can't feel too surprised with her attempting to commit such an act. Yeah, she was an edgemaster, but moreover she also seemed to be in a permanent state of despair. She seemed to have no real life friends or even acquaintances at her college, and rarely left her dorm room for anything other than actual class. Most of her time just seemed to be spent drinking (she drank a LOT), and browsing tumblr for stupid memes - "post-ironic humor" as she called it - and did not at all seem like she had any joy in her life.
I suspect this whole operation to go out and kill people was just a desperate cry for attention, and for some kind of meaning and purpose in her life. The fact that she advertised the attack on tumblr before they tried to actually carry it out makes me feel she just wanted people to notice and remember her in some way.

It's a mediocre movie, with a strong initial buildup, but by the second half the movie completely falls apart as soon as the killer robot starts offing people. But I will say, the director had a great eye for cool visuals and framing, and I just love post-apocalyptic and cyberpunk aesthetics. Plus, there's just something neat about watching old obscure movies. Not for hipster bragging rights, but because, even if they're mediocre or downright terrible, there's always bound to be little bits and pieces of quality: unique characters, an original plot, or in Hardware's case, excellent visuals and engrossing atmosphere (at least before the second half rears its ugly head). They're also interesting to watch because the nature of their success (or lack thereof) means that they'll at least be more refreshing, since they never really seeped into popular culture, like most good movies tend to.

This site has been pretty helpful to me. It seems like they aren't allowed to give out personal information about prisoners like that, so you can't just call and ask if she's there. But, you can send a letter with her name on it to the prison with your address and she may or may not send one back. She got arrested in Halifax, so I'm guessing it's around that area. She also would have to be staying in a Federal prison, which narrows down the search. So far, I suspect this one.

We could try mailing a couple of different prisons and see if we get a response. Lindsay accidentally took someone else's suitcase at the airport, and a chaperone was assaulted in the process of straightening out the mix-up. Rather than expressing any sort of concern or gratitude, she refused to do anything except ask him when he'd get her suitcase back.
