The game is difficult because people nowadays lack the skill to complete a game like Cuphead. Gaming journalists are legit afraid of any game that tests their skills.

Dobson is just jealous that the creators of cuphead made a product done in the style of early 30s cartoons, which uses a combination of surrealism, jazz music, and design to capture the feel of the era. Despite Dobson's love for old cartoons and education as a cartoonist, he can't really make something similar to Cup Head because he has a terrible work ethic and personality.

The game is not even hard. It saves after every stage and every stage is super short. You memorize a few patterns, execute well for less than 3 minutes, and you get some progress. And hell, there are plenty of ways to cheese most, if not all bosses. It's a really fun game and the hard parts are the hard mode and trying to get good scores on stages, but just beating it is fairly easy.

What the fuck is the point of learning to draw then? Anybody can trace. Skip the tracing all together and put some word bubbles over your "reference" picture why don't you? Doing things like this will rightfully ruin an artist's credibility, and it puts everything else they've ever drawn into question. Dobson has been caught tracing from other artist anyway.

The most famous are Greg Land and that spanish guy whose name I forgot (they both feature heavily in those /co/ tracing collages).

Others use software like Blender or Poser and then paint over that.

Same applies for video game concept art, a lot of which is shooped or painted over stock photos.

The reason you see shit like this happen in professional comics and manga is because of tight schedules combined with lax editorial standards. It's still frowned upon, very cheap and lazy but when you have to put out a 22-page comic (often with eight panels per page) every single month things slip through the cracks when they really shouldn't, or are even accepted because deadlines are so tight.

Even then, it isn't excusable, just understandable.

Now, with a two panel political comic like this that's released at the artist's leisure? It's really pathetic.
