Anyway, when Barb dies we'll be in black swan territory where some really weird twists are possible. It's anyone's guess how long Barb will live but she's in really bad shape so I'll give it a decade tops depending on the type of care she receives (75 isn't that old but her dementia seems pretty advanced).
On top of that they have a huge outstanding mortgage so as soon as Barb dies the bank will probably take the house. There's basically no money in Barb's estate that Chris can pay the house off with, so he'll be forced to sell to pay off the debt. It's a shithole and not very likely to sell, so it might end up getting foreclosed putting Chris on the street. Chris is essentially kicking the homelessness can further down the road
