He actually does sperg out a lot about his fanbase whether its on Twitter or to call them out on Youtbe when they criticize him. Last year he spent most of his time doing Twitch streams and too little reviews. His fanbase downvoted his most recent vid at the time (I think it was around FFXV release), he made a follow up throwing a bitch fit on camera.

Army of Two had a contest for the 2nd game ( I think) for fans to draw up and send in gun ideas for the game. 4chan /k/ made a fucked up looking joke gun that looked like this and I guess the devs thought it was really funny and it was added in the game. Their gun won also, but it was funny since his "Angry Joe Army" were trying really hard and all /k/ did was meme the devs. This was back in like 2009 so I don't remember it as well, but I recall him or his fans being really pissy about it.

I never watched his videos that much. His "style" is really boring and drawn-out.

Here, I can summarize what happens.

Joe announced he's taking an eight week refrain from game reviews, partly because he wants a break from constant work and partly because he wants to try new videos. His fans got annoyed at this and perceive him as getting lazy.

Joe became pissed off at his fans for not understanding his need of a vacation after nine years of consistent videos and lashed out at them on YouTube and Twitter. He then locked the ratings and comments of his videos for awhile to "see what happens".

Joe realized he wasn't handling the situation well and made a new video explaining in more detail about what he's doing and why he's doing it.

There, he could have said that and continued with the rest of the video he scrapped. I wouldn't care so much if Jim didn't develop an awful habit of spending so much time beating around the bush and repeating the same concepts with different words.
