How common are these 'potential lolcows' who are weird but never display actual lolcow behavior? How much of that is attributable to the company (or lack thereof) they keep? And how often to people get frustrated with them and start poking them, forgetting what happened to Chris-Chan and his output?

But that's what I meant. It's entirely possible that nobody has so much as nudged him negatively, or at least said so to his face. The same is true of Samuel Catnipnik - has he never become a lolcow simply because of the hugbox he lives in?

This is the great Catch-22 of potential lolcows who never chimp because none of the people they associate with make them chimp. The only way to see if how they'd react to criticism or anything else they might not like is to risk being earmarked as a ween.
