At most, the staff will shadowban people, but in my years on the site I only ever saw two blogs get canned, and both were run by /pol/lacks who posted incendiary material designed to piss people off. Even then, that was at least two years ago, and similar blogs I follow now are left alone. That along with the fact the spambot problem continues to get worse over time makes me think the Tumblr staff has pretty much given up on the site. It's pretty notorious for being a money sink and if I remember correctly it was listed as one of the reason Yahoo went under since it didn't even make a fraction of the price they paid for it. As the internet becomes a more normalized daily medium of interaction for even more people, calls to curtail anonymity and impose offline punishment for online offenses are only going to become more common. It's not even just government overreach like rewarding wrongthink snitches in China or policing racist memes in the UK. Professional schools are already training doctors, lawyers, nurses, etc. in image crafting and social media managemetn as part of the curriculum. Some employers won't hire or trust an applicant if they lack a social media footprint, and they expect it to be squeaky clean. Where once kids where taught by cheesy Garfield posters hung in school computer labs not to put identifiable data online, the suggestion seems to be lately that only trolls or rogues practice discretion.
The maxim of "don't take the internet so seriously," is coming to an end. There are enough people now who obstinately refuse to delineate between digital and analog communication and behavioral norms who have decided they don't have to adapt to the old culture of shrugging it off or going elsewhere. Instead, they're imposing their customs and beliefs and expecting the older climate to change to suit them or get thrown out of their own hangouts.

I've never met Somalis in America, but I encountered a few while studying in the UK. I don't remember all of the details right now but he heard me mention to somebody else that I was atheist and insisted that I let him talk to me about Islam. I couldn't get a word in edgewise. He Muslim Gish-galloped me and shoved pamphlets from the university Islamic society into my arms before shuffling off muttering blessings. Not a terrible guy, but somewhat of a nuisance.
