Would classic Spongebob appeal to escapist autists today? I mean, it's not as mean-spirited as modern, but Bikini Bottom is too flawed to be ideal but it's still chill enough to sympathize with.

Hm. Its hard to say. Its got a mainstream appeal. What makes it different than sanic/mlp/fnaf/Thomas/pokemon? The only thing I can think of is the lack of formulaic recolored characters, and that spongebob has fewer recurring characters to memorize.
