Post op have the higher suicide rate. I think it's higher than the suicide rate for vets of recent wars. Same goes for all sorts of people with different forms of body dysmorphia. I'm in Americorps and last Friday we had a 2-3 hour presentation on trans issues. The presenter was fairly ignorant about her own subject (didn't seem to know anything about the close ties between trans and intersex history and to a lesser degree gay rights), but the worst part was the way that some of the people at my table just ate that shit up. She literally endorsed fake pronouns and said we could be sued if we refused to use them (not true, that's only a law in NYC, not NY state which she would know if she wasn't an ignorant turd) and one girl next to me was furiously taking notes the whole time.

There's a guy in my training sessions who is clearly autistic and annoying as fuck. Well, he had some questions for the presenter. He wasn't trying to tear down the whole "every gender identity is valid" narrative (he said that he identified as a 'demo-boy' and some other shit), but he still had questions. So he asked why people were allowed to classify their own gender and no one was allowed to question it when no other part of a person's identity is uncritically accepted like that. Another girl next to me almost started crying, repeating "it's totally different" like that was all the evidence she needed.

I figure that this whole trans-inclusivity is going to have a backlash and in a decade it'll be virtually impossible for reasonable trans people to get medical treatment. Then people are going to look at that and say "well, even if the science isn't clear that transness is a real thing, restricting access to this one kind of cosmetic surgery is unreasonable" and the pendulum will swing back.

I really don't have a problem with singular they and gender neutral pronouns, but personal pronouns (she said we had to call them "affirmative pronouns" because otherwise they sound silly and trivial) defeat the purpose of pronouns.
