It's incredible to realize the only "connection" this trailer has shown us to ReBoot is currently:

You could edit that trailer to remove the first two points (might be difficult to remove the Guardian logo since it's on their suits) and it would it could easily just work as a new (not very original) property.
The entire fucking point of the original ReBoot series was "the adventures of the beings/people INSIDE your computer" and the only human involvement was the unseen God like being known as "User" operating from the outside.

I mean, the idea of Megabyte working under the generic l33t haxx man makes some sense if you spin it right. Think about it; No other being in Cyber Space has even spoken directly to a user. Megabyte is only alive because of the generic hacker brought him back to like. From his point of view, it would be like God himself bringing back from the dead. Since most poeple in cyber space think that the user is just one person/thing, Megabyte could be in the mindset that "The user himself has chosen ME to take over Cyber Space, this is amazing! I'll be unstoppable" Obviously he'll do what generic haxx guy says for now until he gets full control of Cyber Space, then end up turning on him in some dramatic and predictable way. Then again, that would be giving this upcomming series too much credit.

This looks a lot like Zixx, a show YTV made in the early 2000s in hopes of finding the next reboot. In fact, I think its CG segments were even done by Mainframe. That was a shit show, and this will probably be just as bad. The fact that Netflix is involved comes as no surprise since they seem to love making soulless nostalgia cash ins. Making it Reboot related is just going to do more damage to the show than good. Honestly, I used to want a modern Reboot, but I've come to realize that it should have been left be. It was a nice little time capsule of the mid to late 90s, where computers and the internet were still these mysterious things that the average person didn't really understand. Granted, the average person still doesn't really understand them, but it's all so commonplace now that they've lost their magic. Also, that like to dislike ratio.

I’m not sure how they managed to fuck this up. Reboot is about the world inside you’re computer. You’d think in the 20 years or so since the original, with our society becoming MORE computer-focused, that premise would be more appealing. Like, you could easily adapt it to whatever shitty high-school idea you’d like, too. The premise is actually pretty flexible. Not to mention the advancements in the world now that every single device is online.

It was for kids, but it was a really dark series of books. Go read the books. It's not the darkest thing you've ever read, but even from the perspective of an adult it's still pretty fucking dark. One of the books has the kids set fire to a hotel full of people, and they aren't sure how many people die from it. The book isn't so dark that it describes people dying in a fire in graphic detail, but it also makes it clear that they might have killed almost every person they met in the series, good and bad. The entire series ends with the author saying he has no idea if they survive a few days past the final book.

I watched the first episode, and I don't think I can stomach more than that. I was going to give it two episode since the first one is all setup, but fucking hell it felt awful. It feels absolutely sterile and lacks any sort of cleverness. The script does nothing to actually introduce the characters, it just shows them being a stereotype for two seconds before shoving them along to the next predetermined plot point.
"This guy is perfectely average, this kid is smart, the chick is a vlogger, this guy is the jock." Then every character literally gets a text message to come to a location to get their superpowers and fight the bad things. And now here's the part where they figure out their powers, but it takes only two seconds. And then here's the part where they kick ass. And then here's the part where they discover they can die. Immediately followed by a character "almost dying" except the threat passes so fast you don't buy it for a second. And then there's the part where they "figure how to work as a team" even though they were supposed to already be a team. And here's the part where they have to pull off a "crazy plan" and then it totally looks like the crazy plan might have killed the main character for a total of 3 seconds before he appears behind them.
Aside from the basic criminal sin of generic shitty writing, they kill off any of the sense of fun of the original show by just having the Mainframe scene be an excuse to have really fucking cheap action sequences. And having live-action along side the cartoony looking 3D models only serves to exacerbate that the show looks cheap. If the whole show was actually 3D, it would have let you get used to the style of 3D and learn to stomach it, but instead you only see it just long enough to admire how awful it looks before punting you back to live action and completely ignoring what just happened to remind kids that the character are absolutely normal school kids and this could totally be them one day.
I was about to add on to my rant about how Netflix ruined the plus of being a streaming service by structuring this show for broadcast TV, but after doing some reading it looks like the company that made it for TV realized it was so bad, they sold the rights to Netflix before it's even going to air on TV, which they'll still do in June.

So I watched this show and I'm like on Episode 6. To be honest, I like the CGI scenes better than Live Action segments because I like the designs, it's just I don't care about the teen drama, minus one storyplot that one of the main character's father invented some kind of computer that teleports them onto cyberspace. To make this clear: I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't continued where the original show picked off, like I wanna know what happened next on the old series. Also, I enjoyed the robot girl more than I did with the human characters, but anyway, this show isn't that shitty. I just wish they continued with the storyplot from the original series.
