Granted, I'm a weirdo because I also liked the 3rd and 4th seasons, and also because I didn't know the movie existed until last month believe it or not…

We can debate over that part later, but the basic premise of the movie is that Dexter travels to the future at different points in his life because he got attacked by a Terminator reference just so he can have an excuse to boost his ego, and the comedic truth is that he's going to have a pretty suck-ass life.

SPOILER ALERT:

He'll spend most of his young adulthood being Mandark's bitch, the rest of it literally years of burrowing a tunnel like a mole and eating worms until he's bald, and when he finally gets out, he spends the rest of his years rotting away until he gets dementia.

Keep in mind, this was planned to be the series finale. Granted, some of you liked this movie, but it ruined Dexter's character for me… I know life isn't fair, but I wish that was the only thing I hate about it. It has so many plot holes and paradoxes that it gives me a headache just thinking about it, and begs the question "Did they plan to ret-con it anyway?"

Questions like: What happened to Dee Dee? What happened to his Parents? If Mandark knew he was going to fail anyway, why did he go back to help his past selves if he knew what was going to happen all along? Why did Dexter never keep his confidence? Why did he never try digging up? Did he cut ties for a long time with his Sister after the ending (not counting that episode from 4th season)? Is he a lifelong virgin? What happened to Mordecai (his best friend in school)?

I may be nitpicking, but this isn't Genndy's best work, and I absolutely loved the TV series, all the seasons that is…

But that's my opinion, what do you think?

Regardless of how it unfolded, Dexter comes out on top. In the prime of their lives Mandark is a fucking hamplanet of a dark overlord and Dexter despite not delivering the finishing blow, is a /fit/izen who helps defeat him and goes on to usher in a golden age of science.

And Dexter may grow old and senile, but Mandark becomes just a fucking brain in a jar.

I have no issue with their subversion of expectations.

 No.1056642

>>1056571

The only thing I didnt like is that Mandark was an unambiguous bad guy. I like to think that Dexter was the villain of Mandark's Laboratory.

 No.1056666

>>1056642

Nah, Mandark was always a dick who relished any sort of superiority he had over Dexter.

Yeah Dexter set his sister on him in the first episode, but really all he did was give mandark what he coincidentally wanted in the first place.

This is some kind of Youtube commentator Game Theory-tier bullshit right here

Dexter calling Susan a girl and laughing at him after he said he was a boy and his name was Susan is about as villianous as Dexter ever got towards Mandark.

 No.1056712

>>1056709

It's not even that villainous. I mean, what kind of hippy dippy bullshit is it that you dress your son like that and name him Susan? A Boy Named Sue comes to mind.

Have you considered you may be retarded.

 No.1056720

>>1056712

It's not really villianous at all, but from Mandarks point of view it's sorta like the straw that broke the camel's back.

 No.1056722

Mandark was warped by Dexter's invention into the monster he was in the Bad Future. Dex said it himself.

Dexter's Lab wasn't as great as I remembered altogether, people should stop looking back at everything with such nostalgia.

What the fuck does that even mean?

 No.1056846

>>1056835

He's right though. Dexter's Lab had it's moments but it's a pretty low tier show among the rest of the CN shows of it's time.

 No.1056865

>>1056846

the shows of the time were

>Hanna-Barbera reruns

>Dexter's Laboratory

>Cow and Chicken

>Johnny Bravo

>Power Puff Girls

>Ed, Edd n Eddy

>Mike, Lu & Og

>and Courage the Cowardly Dog.

Everything after Courage was at least 3 years after Dexter aired, Dexter was the first show from the what a cartoon show to get a series and the only show that could really be called better than Dexter was Cow and Chicken until courage came out. Everything else that could conceivably be better than Dexter's Lab, like Samurai Jack came out 5 years later when half the shows went to shit anyway like the third and 4th season of Dexter's lab. The movie by the way came out a month after courage aired.

Oh yeah, and Dexter season 1 and 2 aired from 1996 to 1998 with Ego Trip Airing in 1999, Season 3 and 4 are a different show that ran from 2001-2003.

Depends, when were you born and at what age did your parents allow you to watch public broadcasting.
