Granted, I'm a weirdo because I also liked the 3rd and 4th seasons, and also because I didn't know the movie existed until last month believe it or not…
We can debate over that part later, but the basic premise of the movie is that Dexter travels to the future at different points in his life because he got attacked by a Terminator reference just so he can have an excuse to boost his ego, and the comedic truth is that he's going to have a pretty suck-ass life.
SPOILER ALERT:
He'll spend most of his young adulthood being Mandark's bitch, the rest of it literally years of burrowing a tunnel like a mole and eating worms until he's bald, and when he finally gets out, he spends the rest of his years rotting away until he gets dementia.
Keep in mind, this was planned to be the series finale. Granted, some of you liked this movie, but it ruined Dexter's character for me… I know life isn't fair, but I wish that was the only thing I hate about it. It has so many plot holes and paradoxes that it gives me a headache just thinking about it, and begs the question "Did they plan to ret-con it anyway?"
Questions like: What happened to Dee Dee? What happened to his Parents? If Mandark knew he was going to fail anyway, why did he go back to help his past selves if he knew what was going to happen all along? Why did Dexter never keep his confidence? Why did he never try digging up? Did he cut ties for a long time with his Sister after the ending (not counting that episode from 4th season)? Is he a lifelong virgin? What happened to Mordecai (his best friend in school)?
I may be nitpicking, but this isn't Genndy's best work, and I absolutely loved the TV series, all the seasons that is…
But that's my opinion, what do you think?
