So we know anime has tons of mecha shows, but what about the West?
Here's what I remember
>Transformers
>Megas XLR
>Exo-Squad
>Heavy Gear/Battletech animated series
>Symbionic Titan
Does anyone know about any /m/ related comic book series?

The iron giant should have had better marketing because it was great. Always cool to see giant robot in the original idea of how giant robots were imagined.

One of the Transformers ripoffs had a series about it in the second series of the British Eagle comic in the 80's. But that's about all I know. I had one episode kicking about at some point, it was a Godzilla / ET type story with just one kid who knows they are good guys.

There used to be a series called "Sephen", but Eight abandoned it like he did with everything else he started.
I couldn't find an archive anywhere, but I did find a review by Shnorky.
>Sephen
>Just like all the other female leads in Eight comics. Only this time he drives it into the ground then shoves your face in it. FUN FACT: This comic is Road Waffles set somewhere else!

Written by Grant Morrison!
Zoids used to share a book with Spider-Man in the UK.
Another weird choice by the British publishers, like Calling The Thing "Big Ben" and the Ninja Turtles "Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles" and replacing Michelangelo's nunchaku with a grappling hook.
I think Starriors was from the same molds as Zoids. But the story was changed so that the little golden astronaut figurine in the head of every toy was a robot brain made in the image of humanity, rather than an actual human pilot.

>Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles
There was an absolutely bizarre prejudice against Japanese things in British censorship for years. I can only guess some suit at the BBFC had been in a nip prison camp in earlier life. The game Shadow Warrior absurdly replaced it's throwing stars with darts (as in those used in the pub game) in the UK, and there was a(n ultimately unfounded) rumour that the first Tenchu game was going to be given the R-18 rating usually reserved for hardcore porn. Early VHS anime releases tended to be a notch higher on the age rating scale than a comparable live-action flick would be, too. It was a strange time.

They also replaced Mitsurugi from the Soulcalibur games with a white guy who used exactly the same weapons and moves, and all the Bruce Lee films had the nunchucks scenes cut out.
To this day it's really hard to find a DVD of Bruce Li in "Bruce Lee, the Man, the Myth", with the nunchaku scene intact, because they all seem to be the UK edit.
And don't get me started on the ban on Klingon weapons and zombie knives.

As far as European comics go, Rock & Stone is a decent and short mecha story about boy and his robot surviving on a post apocalyptic space colony after AI turned on humans. Robot is not that big - it's basically Patlabor sized. Story starts slow, and gradually amps up the pace and stakes as it goes. Second, and the last, volume moves much faster than the first one.
Brian K Vaughan also wrote his take on genre in 'We Stand on Guard.' It is mainly about Canadian resistance fighter trying to survive and to deal with U.S. forces invading Canada. Giant robots are not the focus, but they play prominent roles in the story. Art is very good, but story is mediocre. Like most of Vaughan's work.

That was done by Namco for the Korean release of Soulcalibur. It had nothing to do with the UK.

I don't like how western attempts tend to really play it up as a Kitschy thing. Mecha is best when the robots are treated like real pieces of military hardware.
