>Squigglevision is a patented method of computer animation in which the outlines of shapes are made to wiggle and undulate, emulating the effect of sketchily hand-drawn animation. Tom Snyder of Tom Snyder Productions invented the technique, which his animation studio Soup2Nuts subsequently used in Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist, Dick and Paula Celebrity Special, Home Movies, O'Grady, and Science Court.

That's just what happens when you don't care about the consistency of your lines

According to the commentary on the Season 1 DVD of Dr. Katz, the reason Squigglevision exists is because the computer software they were using to make the cartoon was designed to make short-sequence things like gifs, and they were using it for a different purpose. So they coined it as Squigglevision, and later used the method for other shows such as "Home Movies" a decade later.

Science Court is actually surprisingly funny for edutainment. Feels like a series that would exist in the universe of Home Movies.

Didn't they come out and say that was the case?

I remember seeing ads for Dr Katz on my brothers VHS box set of The Head.

Also didn't he get killed in a South Park episode?

Yes he did, it was the episode with the Giant Firework-Snake. Also, he was lampooned in the Holly Holland episode of Arthur, along with South Park and Bevis and Butthead.

Is that actually John Katz?

The squigglevision reminds me of the squiggly outlines of Ed Edd n Eddy.

Dick and Paula feels like the lost sister show to Katz. I can see why it didn't really get off the ground, since it's basically Katz without the likable cast of characters. Pretty funny show though. I like the premise of interviewing historical and mythological figures, all played by H Jon Benjamin.

Ray Ramono was expected to be a regular character which is why he keeps coming back in Season 1 but he had to leave the show because of Everybody Loves Raymond

I think he's one of the better patients, along with Dom. The ones who really play into their role as patients in a therapy session were way better than those who basically just gave standup performances.

I like it. It breaks the meta, getting people out of the alpha state.
