Well, it deserved it on visuals alone. Trailers did not look to good and story sounds lackluster, but some gifs from it are impressive on the creative level. Probably the best I have seen from a mainstream animated release since Rango. Hopefully it will motivate animation studios to experiment with styles, instead of being stuck with the same pixar-like design.

It was a Columbia-Sony release with minimal Marvel backing. Just like Venom and some of Fox X-Men movies.

Honestly, it you don't have epilepsy then it's actually really appealing. The way they play with the colours and good use of chromatic aberration during in-between moments. Not to mention that the whole film doesn't feel like a 'normal' CGI film but rather more as the pseudo-stop motion it presented a la the LEGO movie.
Seriously though, if you have epilepsy then you will have a bad time watching it. You really don't want that.

She's the only one of the spideys to get her shit kicked in for some reason. Her screentime is too small to even warrant a proper role.

I don't think it's horrible though, things are moving so it should be blurry. Especially with that slightly choppy framerate.

It's blurry even when they're just talking to each other, it's like extremely aggressive and soft looking AA. It reminds me of the default settings of the RE2 remake but somehow worse, I loved the movie but I definitely found watching it uncomfortable due to the terrible visual effects.

I literally saw none of that shit because the 3D glasses muddied the picture to high heaven, I couldn't make out any small visual details. Not only that, they made everything darker, and even without the glasses everything is still fucking dark compared to any normal movie.
3D was a mistake. A gimmick that overstayed its welcome.
No.1050830
I kind of enjoyed it. Probably one of the better things with Miles Morales named attached to it. The weird skipping framerate trying to imitate claymation when its 3D was weird choice. Would have loved more interaction with Peni, Ham and Noir more but they do what they were suppose to do. Being quirky for the sake of it. I thought they would undo the death of the original spiderman given that every other spiderman character got some resolution but it didn't come for me which left me a bit disappointed. I wish the funky dimension distorting effect didn't get introduced until it came into affect in the story. Technically, they say they tested it before in the story but it comes off as some weird meta thing with Miles before we even get an introduction to it. Solid for what it was but could have been better. I've seen weaker animated movies that came out in 2018 than Spider-Verse. Mostly from the story department than their animation.

That part is the one that makes sense indeed, in a multitude of other incarnations and even cosplay nobody seems to decide whether they are part of the costume or not, in Spiderverse they finally have some distinction, although is quite puzzling to see Gwen using them like normal shoes, I still dig it, the only thing I didn't quite like is the piercings, I was tempted to even customize a Barbie doll into a Spider Gwen, sadly I can't get the haircut right.

The animation was actually pretty well done and actually kept me fixated on screen for the whole movie. It's nice to see an actual action kid's movie for a change, instead of a regular movie with some action scenes.
The biggest problem seems to be focus, everything happens so fast is hard to make an emotional connection which is a shame since this is the most I've been invested in Miles Morales in well, ever, but it didn't cross into actually caring for him, I cared more for Broken!Peter but that's because I've cared for Peter before.
Also I think Kingpin when down pretty easy, I was hoping for him to die, at least accidentally, he killed Peter, Miles uncle and tried to force his dead/alternate wife and son to be with him, webbing behind bars was too lenient if you ask me.
The worst thing was that the alternate Spideys were kinda wasted and just robed necessary time from the main 3 Spideys to grow on me.

It is pure shit and makes the movie look worse for no good reason. Claymation had a higher framerate then that. If you are sensitive to flickering or constant fluctuations in framerate, the movie is unwatchable.
