I was fascinated with the quality of Jungle Books CGI (not as good as Planet of the Apes though) and this might be an upgrade to that.
I'm annoyed by CGI because Disney keeps doing things which would work in 2D too, but once CGI reaches a close-to-realistic level, I feel that's the whole point of it.
Unlike most I liked Rogue One's CGI Tarkin. One one hand, I felt it was disrespectful and uncanny. On the other hand, I was fascinated and strangely creeped out how close we are to just completely replace actors with CGI even during dialogue scenes.
It's the "taking it to another level" feeling I rarely have with CGI, since on one hand we keep getting steps up with e.g. Marvel, but on the other CGI still looks as shitty as in the 90s, see e.g. DC movies, Venom.

Seth Rogen as Pumba was the worst part of it, Mr. Pig scene is replaced by some limpdicked line about being called chubby and hating bullies (I'm not even paraphrasing). Surprised how close it actually did stay to the animated original but the novelty of the live action/cgi is just lost on me because the environments just didn't have the character to pull it off.
The songs were also much weaker.
