The movie looks better than anything from Disney. Reminds me of Darkman.

>now imagine that poster without the supporting cast, the weird scenes in the corners, all the clutter
>just Venom, Hardy, the V, and (whatever) city's landscape.
The japanese poster is still the best released for the film. And that's because it feels like a comic cover.

I actually like it when the marketing it pretty cheeky or totally misleading to people. Though in this day and age it's not like trailers are easy to avoid.

"There are like 30 to 40 minutes worth of scenes that aren’t in this movie… all of them."

Nearly every movie made in Hollywood has tons of scenes cut, nice shilling though, Disney.

Don't they do this deliberately, so they can sell a "Director's Cut" or "Extended" DVD in six months?

Yeah, but 40 minutes of cut footage? Eh, the movie still looks decent enough.

Before Eddie gets the Symbiote it's like a straight forward noirish thriller, then the second he gets the symbiote it turns into a surrealist superhero comedy, but everyone aside from Venom remains entirely grounded while Eddie is basically going insane.

It was really fun to watch, and I'm going to see it again, but I get why people didn't like it because it doesn't follow the formula of Marvel movies, so it probably feels a bit jarring to people who want all the characters in a story to be self-aware instead of taking the absurdity at face value. Like all the actors are totally buying into the absurdity of what's going on and acting like it's real, unlike something like Thor Ragnarok where everything is a joke and and the characters are winking at the audience.
No.1026888
>>1026886
That makes me wanna see it more. I'm sick of the quips and forced awkward comedy for every single MCU character. It works sparringly with characters like Iron Man or Spider-man but after that it's just not fitting to have every character be a witty comedian.
No.1026889
>>1026888
I'd say the back half of the movie is actually more comedic than most Marvel films, but all the jokes come from the situation and the characters acting as they would act in the situation. Like the jokes are wordplay, they're physical and contextual gags if that makes sense. The first scene where Eddie starts hearing Venom is in this restaurant where Anne, who had broken up with him months ago because he ruined both their careers with his ambush style interview on Drake, is having lunch with her new boyfriend, and Eddie starts getting the urge to get eat raw meat and he starts freaking out and burning up inside and thinks he's actually losing his mind because he's hearing a voice in his head, but he feels compelled to eat, so he's grabbing food off people's plates and getting angry that everything is cooked, yelling, "Everything here is dead!" Almost sounding like an angry vegan, then he jumps into this giant lobster tank and starts eating the live lobsters.
