OP of the Sick of the Catholic church thread
I went to mass today. I realized to an extent that my complaints about Catholic sermons were because there is so little lime for Sermons in a Catholic church - the priest gets about 15 minutes and the rest of the time is spent in worship. Worship in church isn't very fulfilling. I went to regular mass, but Latin mass isn't much better - it actually seems worse because no one seems to know the right responses to say at Latin mass.
Wondering if there was actually a decline in the church or if it was a decline in the culture that the church is getting blamed for.
I donno, guess a lot of pondering and thinking. My family is from a very small village and we have been Catholic for hundreds of years. It is a Catholic village, and our family members were responsible for building a big Catholic church in my village and were a big part of the spiritual life there.
Today many have converted to pentecostalism or atheism. In my immediate family it's just mom and me who even believe in God. My extended family runs a pentecostal church and my uncle was the preacher there before he died recently.
I have a lot of questions about the role of Church. Is it supposed to provide spiritual guidance? Is it just a place of worship?
It seems like we as Catholics rely on Catholic schools and classes to teach the faith. Now that that has declined, many don't really know the faith, understand it or follow it.
I donno, lots to think about
