Evolution is a lie.

I'm a Catholic, my church tells me that Christianity is compatible with evolution. But having looked into it - evolution seems like a dubious, stupid lie, and the biblical worldview seems to me more rational.

Among other reasons, genetic entropy

we accumulate mutations and parents transmit mutations to offspring. Most of these mutations are neutral, 3/4 are bad and 1/4 is beneficial.

These mutations add up over time and result in things like more cancer, more genetic degradation

natural selection can't get rid of mutations that are neutral or harmful but not immediately (or visibly) harmful

why does this debunk evolution?

1. it suggests recent creation

2. it reinforces kinds because even under the best of circumstances speciation through beneficial mutation won't be enough to get rid of the effects of negative mutation

I agree that creatures degrade over time but I disagree that humanity is recent. Adam was probably strong as Hulk, beautiful as an elf, and could get a perfect score on an IQ test while drunk and sleepy (I’m exaggerating). Over millions of years harmful mutations accumulated and the various races split off and some decayed far more than others by current time.

Not compatible with the biblical timeline. Check the genealogies.

>my church tells me that Christianity is compatible with evolution

<my church tells me that God didn't create people, the animals, plants, etc. despite His word teaching us exactly that.

>In the 1950 encyclical Humani generis, Pope Pius XII confirmed that there is no intrinsic conflict between Christianity and the theory of evolution, provided that Christians believe that God created all things and that the individual soul is a direct creation by God and not the product of purely material forces.

Switch denoms, imo.
