>asking someone to pray for you is worship

Wew prot. Never ask anyone to ever pray for you ever again. Not even your family because that is considered worship.

Mary worshippers believe this is an argument

This chart doesn't even address the question of deceased giving intercessory prayer. It points out that catholics view mary as the recipient of prayer, as able to answer prayer, and able to hear all your prayers

eab6ce  No.1656

Something just struck me: Catholics claim that Mary had to be sinless in order for Jesus to be born of her, as only a sinless person could give birth to a sinless person. Wouldn't that also make Mary's mother, and her mother, and so on all the way back down her maternal ancestral line sinless? Pretty sure that's heresy.

eab6ce  No.1657

>>1656

Also, those quotes from the CCC remove all doubt from my mind that the catholic church is wrong. Their very own doctrine states that "… by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation…" and it says "When we pray to her…". That's absolutely against scripture, I was kinda on the fence about leaving the catholic church, now I'm definitely leaving it.

Thank you! It's gonna be a little awkward I think, I have a lot of catholic friends that I think will ask me a bunch of questions but it's for the best. Luckily there's a pretty good church group on my campus that I'm pretty sure is modeled after the SBC, I'll probably start going there regularly now.

lol no. That's not how it works and if you were a Catholic, you'd know that. But, you're clearly not Catholic, have never been Catholic, and are only false flagging.

eab6ce  No.1661

>>1660

No actually I was raised catholic, and one of the things that I found catholics claiming when asked about Mary is that she didn't have any sin because Jesus couldn't be born of an impure mother. Regardless, if you can refute all of the things in op's pic that go against scripture instead of my argument (which is apparently low-hanging fruit) then I'd be very impressed and grateful for the insight.

Tell us how it works, then.

Catechism 493:

>By the grace of God Mary remained free of every personal sin her whole life long.

Ineffabilis Deus of 8 December, 1854

>in the first instance of her conception, by a singular privilege and grace granted by God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the human race, was preserved exempt from all stain of original sin.

So she was without personal or original sin "in view of the merits of Jesus Christ"

Is the relevant merit of Christ that needed Mary to be without sin not Jesus' sinlessness?

bad7b6  No.1663

>>1661

>>1662

Mary's sin was removed, but that doesn't mean her mother's or her mother's or her mother's and so forth was removed. Mary's sin was removed by God. Are you claiming God can't remove sin?

Yes, Mary was sinless and was assumed into Heaven. Protties can't handle that because most Prottie "Christianity" is less than 200 years old and ancient tradition baffles them.

A lot of Catholic beliefs are much more recent than Protestant ones. Name a Protestant belief that can't be found in the first few centuries of the church

What quality of Jesus makes it necessary for Mary to have been born sinless?

Mary is the mother of God. You expect God to be born from sin? You must be Jehovah's Witness.

I'm not interested in engaging in talking points. Is the answer "Jesus' status as God"?

536d77  No.1671

Nice false flag, prot.

eab6ce  No.1674

>>1671

It's not a false flag, I wouldn't lie because that'd be a sin. How can you look at that phrasing of the catechism of the catholic church and not realize that they're pretty much giving Mary a role in salvation? It shouldn't be necessary for people to explain through all this mental gymnastics what is actually meant by the CCC and why it's not actually heresy to believe what it says.

That's not Mary, anon. If somehow you're not false-flagging you are in serious danger. Pray to the Father as Christ instructed us.
