I just can't seem to align myself with any single

Christian Church. When I first became a Christian naturally I was a Protestant (a Baptist to be specific) but I ended up switching to Catholicism. However I began disagreeing with many doctrinal aspects concerning the papacy after reading the Church Fathers more thoroughly and studying the history of the hierarchy which attracted me to Orthodoxy. But I'm hesitant to become Orthodox for a few reasons. Namely I don't want to be deemed an apostate from an actual Church and also for cultural reasons. Culturally I am much more familiar with western Christian liturgical life and although I have great respect for the Eastern traditions I just don't know how I could get fully on board with that. People have suggest western rite Orthodoxy but the problem is is that there aren't many western rite Orthodox churches around and also I feel like that would just be a cop out of the true Orthodox experience, and besides many western rite churches are byzantized. I don't feel like a Greek, I am a Latin Christian at heart. I don't want to be a Protestant though. I just can't see myself accepting doctrines like sola fide and sola scriptura. I thought about Anglicanism but the Anglicans are so liberal now and the high Church Anglicans are still in communion with the faggot loving Anglicans. What do I do? Why can't I just be a Christian? :(

I sympathize and know how you feel. Some form of Western Christianity that still isn't Catholic or Reformed (in the Sola Fide sense) will find a home in any one of the Holiness (Methodism) movements. I'd tell you Nazarene specifically, but if I'm being honest, it's a bigger tent than that.

Also, if you have the funds to spare, try Thomas Oden's "Classic Christianity". Kind of sums up this spirit, in systematic form. That is, those of us who are Western Christians, but more Arminian, and still have admiration for the long history of the Church and try to learn from Orthodox/Catholics too.

Just to add, Oden was a Methodist himself, but he's considered the biggest voice of "Paleo-Orthodoxy". Which is pretty much what we're getting at here.

I was first baptized in the Church of Christ years ago, which made similar claims of "mere Christianity", but they were still very insular. They thought everyone in history was wrong but them. This is why I left. What I'm talking above doesn't hate on what Orthodox and Catholic have taught us or have such a bleak view of history.

>I don't want to be a Protestant though. I just can't see myself accepting doctrines like sola fide and sola scriptura.

Why in particular?

>Why can't I just be a Christian?

Because there are issues of primary importance that you must take a stand on

>I was a Protestant (a Baptist to be specific)

What about sacramental protestantism like Lutheran, Anglican or Presbyterian?
