ITT: Your denom, and an example of your prayer routine. Trad prayers, psalms, rosary, or all personal petition? Mental prayer, mysticism? Remember the purpose of this thread is to build up one another in faith, not to dispute each other's customs.

I'll start

>Catholic

- Apostle's creed

- Personal petitions (glorify God, ask for X, thank God for X)

- Examine conscience, ask for forgiveness for X

- Prayers for X, the clergy, the community of my city

- Lord's Prayer

- Glory Be

A shorter mix of those in the evening. If I have time during the day I'll pray through the Ten Commandments, asking for strength to keep them (with specifics) and for forgiveness if I broke them.

I pray spontaneously for anything that comes to mind at any time. I also have a list, and my church keeps a list broken down by family that we pray over on wednesdays.

"Pray without ceasing" -1 Thess 5:17

Just talk to God, and forget… how do you even put it..?… The state of being of living in Ego, where we're merely aware of the Self. Always keep your mind towards heaven, whether in giving thanks, or just telling God your thoughts on the day. He just wants to speak with us.

This, and the Lord Prayer are the only biblical answers.

No, man. The books of Psalms and Song of Songs are two biblical books that are only prayers. The songs of Zechariah, Maria and Simeon are biblical too. And what about the four angels' prayer in Revelations 4:8, which is also appears in Isaiah 6? There are many prayers throughout the New and Old Testament. Don't restrict yourself unnecessarily. There are many beautiful ways to praise God in the Bible and many more written afterwards. Remember that God does not need your prayers, it is you who has the need to praise God. Do it not guided by arbitrary rules, but by love.

Regarding my own praying… I do not have a strict prayer routine, but at the very least, I say a prayer when waking up, and another when going to bed. I also read a bit of the Bible every day, though sometimes less than a chapter, and preface it with some praying. Sometimes it's just a quick "Lord, aid me with your wisdom to understand the scriptures", but lately I'm spending more time in prayer before I open the Bible and start reading.
