What do y'all think about gnosticism and hinduism/kabbalah?

Learning about that gave me an existential crisis. I despise the idea of reincarnation, karma and having to forget everyone you loved when "reincarnating"

Gnosticism seems to be very similar to orthodox dharma beliefs because Hermes Trismegistus said basically the same things as the Vedas

As christians what do yall think? I really hope christianity is the real religion and not that gnostic heresy.

I think that if my soul springs back to life with a different body and no memory, it's not ME anymore.

I also think, given that as a kid I reportedly tell my parents I had lived in a place that I was passing by and described it, only to retain no memory of it later, that the brain is also a smart antenna other than a smart calculator. So having memories of past lives doesn't mean necessarily that they are yours.

Finally, from a purely religious POV, asserting that you have a multitude of lives might be a not so subtle way to make you waste one life, which might be the only true one you got, or the only one YOU as an unique combination of body/soul would be judged for.

In synthesis, what the "it's all trash" guy said: it's all trash.

I despise the idea of eternal torment more as a kind of cosmic blackmail, i'm convinced no one could.actuallly believe it without qualification thankfully the bible atleast in the original languages isn't definitive and the church allows for a myriad of theologumen.

As for.gnosticism it isn't heresy as such, there is a orthodox gnosis, I could cite many saints who would qualify as 'gnostics'.

Christians believe they only have one life, but they spend it waiting for it to pass so they can get to the eternal afterlife. Isn't that worse than what you described? Christian view doesn't even say you will have to live with the consequences of your previous life, rather they encourage you cling tightly to your bible while the world goes to hell so that you can one day ESCAPE this world and leave it behind. At least being reincarnated into the same world would suggest that you shouldn't completely destroy it while you're here.

Read and study the book of Jude. It's only one chapter, it's one of the shortest books in the bible. Here's a link: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jude&version=NABRE

Jude wrote the letter in response to Gnosticism creeping into the Christian church and subverting it. He deemed it such an extreme threat to the church that he quickly got this one letter out, planning to write more about it. He was unfortunately martyred before he could write more, but his epistle helped the early church defend against a complete takeover.

The reason Gnosticism is bad is because it conflicts with gospel teaching about good and evil. It denies God's power (instead equating the devil with God). It denies Jesus's suffering and resurrection. But worst of all, it has people focusing on themselves and others.

We're not called to get ourselves in the perfect spiritual ascension or whatever we're called to lift up the poor and the lost. We're not meant to detach from the world, unless we're using that time to pray for the world and for the church. If we're just meditating and working on ourselves all the time, the love of the gospel can't spread and the light within us won't inspire others to open their hearts to God.

Gnosticism/Buddhism is narcissism and detachment from the souls we're meant to fight for. It's incompatible with Christianity, and though they wear a cloak of peace, they invert souls into the devil's most wicked spells of self abasement.
