The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

When in doubt, remember that this life on earth is just transistory. What's 100 years on earth compared to an eternal blissful life in the presence of God?

Well, there's a little more theological disscussion regarding the 'problem of pain' then that, but yeah.

Our final destination is The Kingdom of Heaven, Earth is just the pit stop and the Church is the ship that gets us there. God love you all!

I don't really find comfort in that. The idea of heaven is an abstraction to me. I can't say I fully comprehend it. Instead I look to what God has done for me on this Earth for hope.

How do you reconcile the idea of heaven with free will?

You will not be able to sin. You will not be able to have desires. You will not be able to choose. What will be left of you then? Will you still be yourself? Will you even be able to think? Will you have some sort of conscience left? Will you be in a state of complete mindless pleasure?

I don't understand it.

>How do you reconcile the idea of heaven with free will?

If you want heaven, you will choose to strive to go there. If you want hell, you will choose to strive to go there.

>You will not be able to sin.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

>You will not be able to have desires.

Your desire to be with God will be fullfilled. What more would I want when I have the infinite at my side?

>Will you still be yourself?

Yes you will.

>Will you even be able to think? Will you have some sort of conscience left?

Yes

>Will you be in a state of complete mindless pleasure?

More like mindful pleasure. To serve God in His eternal kingdom is what we all should strive for. There is more to heaven than just sitting worship. There are 9 choirs of angels that could use our help as well. There is a church full of people that can use our prayers.

Remember, you always have a choice to either choose God or to not choose him. Only by detaching yourself from your worldly vices (lust, drugs, anger, etc) and centering your life around God will you know joy. Once you know joy, why ever go back?

>You will not be able to choose.

You will be, even more clearly than you ever could in this life. Free will remains, but it's no longer compromised by original sin and desires of the flesh.
