The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

I'm experiencing somewhat of a faith crisis right now and would like to talk with you about the topic of salvation. I feel diconnected from God, and that he has given up on me. He gave me plenty of chances but I blew them and he moved on, which is fair.

I'm not lowkey begging you for reassurance that God loves me. I'm just wondering if it is possible to be beyond salvation. Do you think there are people who are destined to not be saved? Do you think there are people who are so hopeless and wicked that God just walks away because they are a lost cause? If I'm not mistaken, some protestants believe that you have to be chosen to be saved. And that you can only be saved by Gods mercy and not your deeds. What are your thoughts about it?

>I feel diconnected from God, and that he has given up on me. He gave me plenty of chances but I blew them and he moved on, which is fair.

If that were true, wouldn't you be dead and in hell already?

I think you need to persevere. Resolve to stop sinning, and no matter what, don't give up. Pray the rosary every day, learn more about the faith, and correct any erroneous positions and believe what the Church teaches.

Everyone who goes to hell chooses to do so for one reason or another, it's not God's fault. "…the one who perseveres to the end will be saved." -Matt 24:13

CHAPTER XII.

That a rash presumptuousness in the matter of Predestination is to be avoided.

No one, moreover, so long as he is in this mortal life, ought so far to presume as regards the secret mystery of divine predestination, as to determine for certain that he is assuredly in [Page 40] the number of the predestinate; as if it were true, that he that is justified, either cannot sin any more, or, if he do sin, that he ought to promise himself an assured repentance; for except by special revelation, it cannot be known whom God hath chosen unto Himself.

CHAPTER XIII.

On the gift of Perseverance.

So also as regards the gift of perseverance, of which it is written, He that shall persevere to the end, he shall be saved:-which gift cannot be derived from any other but Him, who is able to establish him who standeth that he stand perseveringly, and to restore him who falleth:-let no one herein promise himself any thing as certain with an absolute certainty; though all ought to place and repose a most firm hope in God’s help. For God, unless men be themselves wanting to His grace, as he has begun the good work, so will he perfect it, working (in them) to will and to accomplish. Nevertheless, let those who think themselves to stand, take heed lest they fall, and, with fear and trembling work out their salvation, in labours, in watchings, in almsdeeds, in prayers and oblations, in fastings and chastity: for, knowing that they are born again unto a hope of glory, but not as yet unto glory, they ought to fear for the combat which yet remains with the flesh, with the world, with the devil, wherein they cannot be victorious, unless they be with God’s grace, obedient to the Apostle, who says; We are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh; for if you live according to the flesh, you shall die; but if by the spirit you mortify the deeds of the flesh, you shall live.

>I'm just wondering if it is possible to be beyond salvation.

That is literally impossible, and suggesting it is a sin against the Holy Spirit.

You're being too hard on yourself, and since I've had a similar experience recently I have to say this; pray for what you need. You have needs and if you had faith that God would give them to you if you asked, then why sin?

Either 1) you don't know what you need yet so of course you will have to struggle to know yourself further, or 2) you won't ask God for that which you need, out of fear.

If in the first case, try harder, if in the second case, ask and you will receive. You will receive grace and comfort if you will do either, but not if you do not.

No one is destined to be eternally damned. People are free to damn themselves like they are free to come to God for their salvation. God does not make people destined for hell.

Who did Jesus go to? Not the devout. As you know, he had a different target audience.

God has a way of taking a great mess and turn it into a great message. Remember that, brother, and may God bless you and reinforce your faith so that you may regain your course on the way to a fulfilled life.
