Hey y'all,

I think I already know the answer to this, but looking for some reassurance. I accidentally typed in 4chan's website in wrong and got redirected to a pornography page, I immediately tried to exit but of course, I saw things that made me realize it was a porn page, this isnt a mortal sin correct? Since I didn't choose or know that this would happen? I assume this is the case and received communion today. Please let me know if I need to confess.

I am so bothered that we live in a world where pornography can be so widespread and unexpected. It shakes me up, perhaps to be more vigilant, but even still, seeing and immediately resisting it causes some mental anxiety about mortal sin.

Next part of this, how do you deal with scrupulosity? This appears to be my cross at this point in my life, and I just want to know what some of you have done to overcome it, and trust in God.

Based on your story, I don't think you've committed a mortal sin, because, even though pornography is a grave matter, you did not have the full consent (or any consent, by what you tell us) to consume it, and you immediately closed the page. It's also happened to me, it tried to click the catalog button while phoneposting and accidentally clicked on the "Attention-Hungry Games" banner, which always redirects to some degenerate board.

However, if this bothers you so much, there can be no harm in mentioning it in your next confession.

You cannot accidentally commit a mortal sin, you have to fully consent and acknowledge what you're about to do is a mortal sin. What you did wasn't even a venial sin since you acknowledged what was on that site was deeply damaging to your soul and left it ASAP.
