Hi, friends. I wish to ask of something that has been bothering me for a long time. I am Scottish and was born to a family which had Catholicism on my mother’s side (as a result of Irish roots) whereas my father’s side was Protestant/Agnostic. I was baptised as a Catholic and also made my first Holy Communion and I was very interested in the word of God as a child. However, at around 10, I became disillusioned with Catholicism and became agnostic. I refused to partake in my confirmation.
For the past few years, I have grown to respect Catholicism again and have partaken in many Catholic activities. I did not make my confirmation though as a result of my aforementioned rebelliousness (which I regret immensely).
I feel as though I’m in the purgatory of Catholicism. I’m sort of Catholic but not really. I’m like a discarded Catholic who never passed the final quality assurance test.
Basically, is it over for me and have I ruined it all for myself? Would I have to go through an adult conversion programme to realise and become a full and proper member of the Roman Catholic Church?
Thank you.

Just go and ask your priest about getting confirmed. There is a program you have to go through before getting confirmed, but that's for everyone who's getting it no matter how old they are.

Just do RCIA, it's not that big of a deal. It's far from over for you.

Just do this op. You'll likely be put through an expedited RCIA esque program and be confirmed the same time as the PSR grads. That's what happened with me at least. Fullon RCIA is saved for brand new converts only.

I was in the exact same boat just a few months ago. Ask your priest, they'll most likely put you through a a form of the program for confirmation that everyone has to do. Demonstrate some knowledge and they'll probably expedite it.

I never made my confirmation either and was afraid of the same thing, but I can't say I trust in the modern ways of the church and V2 either so I'd be lying to myself if I go and make it now. Honestly you couldn't have made this thread at a better time, I feel like I want to confirm my faith before God but I can't make peace with the current state of the Holy Mother Church. Sometimes I feel the same way, like I'm a halfway Catholic Christian or that I'm simply Catholic by denomination but not really.
I feel like I have been going through a spiritual crisis. I pray five decades of the Rosary every day and meditate on the mysteries among other prayers that I do out of faith, exercise charity when I have to go out, abstained from masturbation and fornication altogether, read on the life of many Saints and sometimes books or passages of the literature they have written, sometimes scripture, etc. Aside from attending church I lead a humble Christian life, always try to avoid sin and become a better person, but I feel like I don't belong anywhere denomination-wise, so to speak, I'm inclined to say that if a fellow Christian asked me, I'd be lying if I defined myself as any other thing than a Sedevacantist who is blackpilled and deeply affected by his situation, but I don't see how I would embrace my Christian faith any other way than settling for a life closer to that of an ascetic hermit instead of an average Catholic individual.

You need to learn obedience and surrender yourself to the church. I too was once obsessed with church politics and my faith suffered. I didn't agree with protestant biblical interpretation, but I kept telling myself I couldn't trust the church because of this or that. I looked into sede sects, but their reasoning varied from moderate skepticism that may even have been backed by an internal source, to borderline tin-foil hat conspiracy theories.
The reality is this: It's pride getting in the way of faith. Stop looking at the church from an outsiders perspective and take a look at the people around you. Not the lukewarm Easter-Christmas Catholics, but local priests, volunteers, nearby religious orders, the devout. Stop listening to the media and start seeing the world for what it is. Take the leap and god will catch you. Humble yourself, for each step you lower yourself is yet another step up to the gates of heaven. Stop insisting you know better how to run the church and just let the Holy Spirit guide you. Only then will your faith be true.

I've been told FSSP and SSPX priests do one on one mentoring for confirmation so if you are already familiar you can get confirmed as soon as a bishop visits your town. Apparently they also take things very seriously and will provide great teaching.

Same. I'm doing it now and I'll get confirmed next year. I'm going with people who is 40+ years and I'm only 19. So yes, you'll go to an adult programme, we met once a month.
At least they gave me a free Bible

We had a guy like you in our RCIA class this year; an unconfirmed cradle catholic.
Just ask a priest or someone involved with religious education about it. Youll probably have to take classes, but you can definitely get confirmed.
