>>he doesn't know about so-called Christian Hedonists
Because they weren't even Christian. They were Gnostics. The Gnostic and Neo-Platonic notion of denying the importance of material/flesh reality led to two wings: One of extreme self-denial (i.e. Origen chopping his pee-pee off), and the other were the hedonists. Their reasoning being that if the flesh didn't matter, then nothing they did in the flesh mattered either. It became a bizarre excuse to become even more sinful.
The same trait has passed on to, funnily, Christian televangelists and "Word of Faith" types. Heretics like Kenneth Copeland and Benny Hinn outright teach a "pre-existing soul" doctrine much like Gnostics and Kabbalists, and think we're all natural sons of God who've come down to be punished on Earth. They believe a truly awakened person rejects this fleshly state and "claims" their true birthright as preexisting sons of God. They then rationalize that if they are divine beings, then they deserve all of the comforts in the world while they're here. So they preach a "name it and claim it" doctrine in the Word of Faith movement.. sometimes called the Prosperity Gospel.. where those with special awareness have rights to all the earth. It's the rebirth of Gnostic Hedonism all over again. But hardly Christian.
