I understand that I have no right to call myself a devout theologian or an expert in Iconography, but I have a enough of a familiarity of it to incorporate what I know into both this and more serious works like pic related.
While I understand it's definitely bordering on the cringe-worthy territory of the emoji bible if not blasphemous parody, the idea was to address the criticisms and stereotypes of Christianity from secular eye, and try to make the viewer see past that. I wanted to get to a point of "so what?" with how ridiculous the call to faith can seem, and how the will and workings of God can exceeded common sense; to be able to appreciate the religious content of the image in spite of the atheistic motifs sprinkled throughout.
Of course, I have no real control over people getting that; the interpretation becomes whatever is reflected back into the mind of the viewer, and he can read to whatever suits his interests. If it is blasphemy, forgive me for what my hands have made; if it is of any value, then thank God.
