The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

I've seen a ton of threads here talking about various Christian bands in a variety of genres (ex: Christian Rock Bands, Christian Metal Bands, Chants, Classical Music, etc.) but I'm a bit curious as to what if anything you guys listen to that's not explicitly Christian. I mean, not to be that guy, but while I do love a lot of Christian bands, a lot of it is admittedly cringe to me and I kind of have to be in the mood for it. I love hymns and classical, but contemporary Christian music is… iffy.

To start, I was born and raised on Rock of all kinds, but nowadays I tend to stick to Punk, Metal, and Hardcore With RAC bands as a sort of guilty pleasure. My all time favorite band is the Ramones, followed closely by Motörhead. I have aspirations of starting a band with christian themes, as well as secular social critique someday tbh. Johnny Ramone is a massive inspiration to me (pic related) I'm not super into the scene nowadays because of college, but I still keep the dress and attitude for the most part.

Thought's, comments, your preferences, etc…. IDK Just kinda winging it with this thread.

I enjoy some classic metal, it’s generally more upbeat.

Since metal got stale after all these years I'm now listening more to 80's music, atmospheric black metal and Faith No More.

I recently downloaded Joji's album BALLADS 1, pretty nice.

Now listening to this, thanks to the internet's busiest music nerd.

As for "you probably wouldn't even know them" look for KEYGEN CHURCH on Bandcamp.

I like to sing songs that are great in karaoke. Embed related is my personal favorite. Really, anything with an upbeat tune and isn't too degenerate.

Also, the big band era (think Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mercer, Louis Armstrong, Aretha Franklin, Bobby Darin, etc) songs tend to be more wholesome than what you would get today.

I think that the best christian band is Kansas, as the lyrics have christian tones, and the music itself is fantastic, even if you aren't a fan of progressive rock. I highly recommend it.

Underoath, at least the older albums are considered Christian Metal/Rock.

The album “Conformicide” by Havok is pretty based. I think spiritually productive also. Good for the gym, etc. very solid thrash.

Here is the title track from that album

>Trouble - Psalm 9

Lyrics:

The Lord shall endure forever

For he hath prepared his throne for judgment

And they that know thy name will put thy trust in thee

For thou Lord have not forsaken those that seek thee

I will praise thee O Lord

I will sing praise in thy name

Don't forget the cry of the humble

Have mercy on me

Put them in fear O Lord

That the nations may know

Let them realize they are just men, just men

Thou hast rebuked the heathen

Thou hast destroyed the wicked

Won't forget the cry of the humble

Have mercy on me

Put them in fear O Lord

That the nations may know

Let them realize they are just men, just men

The Lord shall endure forever

For he hath prepared his throne for judgment

And they that know thy name will put thy trust in thee

For thou Lord have not forsaken those that seek thee

Put them in fear O Lord

That the nations may know

Let them realize they are just men, just men

The Lord will be a refuge

For the oppressed

A refuge in times of trouble

We are not holy men

But at least we try

Try to serve as best we can

Sometimes I'd like to die

Why must you be so angry

Treat each other wrong

The poor will not be forgotten

God loves us all

I grew up listening to skate punk and moved to heavy metal as I got older. However it became clear that 90% of these bands are fueled by Satanic influence. I am frequently tempted to listen to these bands and play their music when I pickup an instrument, just as I am sometimes tempted to look at porn sometimes. I know its wrong and try not to do it.

ec6542  No.776139

>>776138

Lolz. That song is okay though. It’s basically just revelation 6

Lyrics:

Above the wreckage of your mortal world I stand

Judgement passed delivered by his hand

Now clear the smoke, there the ashes stand

A fitting tribute to mortality and man.

What was written foretold in dreams,

In visions apocalypse now seen.

And all self-righteous fools who lived and blasphemed

Drink the wine of his anger

Die with the beast

Vindication, he is coming on the clouds

See his angels, hear their trumpets sound.

The day of anger when the stars fall from the sky

The moon turns red, the sun turns black as night.

Know the end is coming, heed this sign

By the morning star the four horsemen ride.

Revelation, the chosen saved

Earth be cleansed in a blaze

Armageddon, the first trumpet blows

Hail, fire and blood fall on Satan's throne.

His hair as white as wool, his eyes like burning flame

He is the first and last, he brings the seven plagues

Seven stars of seven cities in his hand

He holds the keys of death for the underworld and man

Know the end is coming, heed this sign

By the morning star he four horsemen ride

Revelation, the chosen saved

Earth be cleansed in a blaze

Armageddon, the first trumpet blows

Hail, fire and blood fall on Satan's throne.

Revelation, the chosen saved

Earth be cleansed in a blaze

Armageddon, the first trumpet blows

Hail, fire and blood fall on Satan's throne.

They have a ton of blasphemous songs, but this is the one I had in mind. Anyways, you should stop listening to Pedowar.

Lyrics:

Slowly crossing as the river runs below

Never stopping for what's waiting soon will show

And this last time looking back, I'll see my home

For he awaits me, reaching for my soul

He calls my name and waves me on

The fallen one, he stands in flame

Well, the life that he has given

Full of riches and success has a price

That I made good in blood to pay

And the light he now is showing

To guide my every footstep is insurance

If I falter on my way

And what God has now forsaken

And man has never seen

Are the riches of the underworld below

All my years of earthly pleasures

Gave support unto the bridge

I now cross it giving him my soul

Dark lord, I summon thee

Demanding the sacred right to burn in Hell

Ride up on Hell's hot wind

Face one more evil than thou

Take my lustful soul

Drink my blood as I drink yours

Impale me on the horns of death

Cut off my head, release all my evil

Lucifer is king, praise Satan

Eh, to be honest the only metal band I kinda like is Sabaton, but even their music is full of heresy.

Also, it is severely cringeworthy for grown men to wear band t-shirts.

ec6542  No.776154

>>776143

I do take issue with your interpretation though. It’s not “evil” automatically because it says those things. For instance, it is also important and very spiritually productive, I think, to recognize that we ourselves as Christian /are/ essentially “summoning Satan” to the earth, and proclaiming our allegiance to him / verifying his rule over us each time we sin. And for the same reason, I think it is also important to recognize that our “old selves” are essentially satans tools, and then shedding them and the new body given by the grace of Christ emerging out from the old Satan body and “converting” my old Satan self into the new Christanon self.

A lot of the supposedly satanic things in metal genres play around with the sort of esoteric meaning of the “demon within me” type of thing — and I personally think that is very soeoruakky oroductive , to keep thst in the forefront of my mind that my old body self is the one that I want to burn in hell to be purified and made Holy for Christ to be able to shine through.

anyway not for everyone , I suppose, but I had a long journey through metal for a bit of a whole, and God can be found everywhere. You gotta sometimes get people where they’re at , and you can come out from manowar to the same spiritual truths that can be found everywhere. That’s the thing about spiritual truths, it just is . Anyway most “satanic” people at the actual shows are mostly tongue and cheek. And even if they are not , “contemplation of death/destruction” is imo far more beneficial than contemplation of heaven and blessings. There is a path up that speaks far louder than the path down. I am unconcerned completely, because I already got to the bottom of where that down path leads. There’s an up path, but you won’t see it at all unless you start following it up from where you’re at . Anyway, Christ is the teacher, he guides and teaches us all in different ways, I suppose.

There was so much equivocation and invalid rationalization in your first couple sentences that I couldn't bring myself to read the rest of your post. You need to pray on this and ask for God's guidance rather than find excuses for indulging in your compulsions. Fight the good fight, don't be an apologist for Satan's acolytes because you like the aesthetic.

Eh… When music has heretical lyrics or just lyrics I disagree with I tend to just block out the actual meaning of the words and just focus on lyrical flow. That's how I still listen to Skrewdriver Neo-Nazi Band even after my political/moral views changed.

The whole point of this thread was to acknowledge musical talent outside of our clique, as well as sort of indirectly address faith/life balance. I'd love it if the world were all totally on board with Christianity, and I'd love to sit here all day and pretend like my entire life is nothing but spirituality, but that's just not the case.

Also, a lot of the people on this board, if not most of us are converts rather than Cradle-Christians. I mean… we're on 8chan. That kind of says a lot about the type of people we are. I'm on this board because I don't fit in with "normal" Christians. This sort of stuff is part of that. I think it's healthy to open up and talk about these kinds of things since we're such a weird faction in the Christian community.

I hate how much like the term Techno degenerated into a generic umbrella term for all EDM in the early 90's, Deep House has degenerated into an umbrella term for "whatever is the generic/middle of the road/mainstream club house sound being pushed at the moment." I mean, there's prayer groups/youth groups. I have acquaintances from my Newman center but I wouldn't really say we're "friends". We can talk about spirituality together and have some casual conversation, but that's about as far as it goes. Plus, they all have a very beginner level understanding of spirituality and church history because most of them are cradle Catholics. I get along better with the director of the group than I do the actual members. My only good friends are agnostic.
