These big names they throw out are political targets with weak accusations, all of them associated with the conservative resurgence. Frank Page is the only one with any substance and he resigned himself, totally unrelated to any public scandal.

There's a fundamental misunderstanding of Baptist polity here, as if the convention ordains and sets rules for the clergy of the congregations. Moreover, the SBC is actually cucking TOO hard on plenty of issues like disfellowshipping "racist churches" (on the state level), passing anti Confederate resolutions, forcing out Paige Patterson.

The SBC was formed in 1845 after the triennial convention of Baptists forbade sending missionaries from slave holding families, so the south split off.
