The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

She was this little kid who fell down, and then began insisting she was the reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian priestess. When she grew older, she made great contributions to the field of Egyptology, including discovering where unknown tombs and artifacts were without any archaeology equipment, and translating ancient texts into English. She has been called “one of the Western World's most intriguing and convincing modern case histories of reincarnation.” I ask because I know as Christians we’re not supposed to believe in reincarnation, so I wonder what your explanation for this is.

Her obsession probably led to those discoveries, not any pre-existing knowledge.

Did she know or study ancient Egyptian before and/or aftee her accident. If she knows ancient Egyptian and never once studied it, than she is exhibiting a sign of demonic possession. Couple it with her claiming reincarnation it is within the realm of possibility.

Pray for her.

To emphasize your point; it is at best demonic delusion and at worst demonic possession. Either way it's bad.

This. Speaking tongues and knowledge of hidden things. That's two of the big three signs right there. Add in the fact that it presents an obvious stumbling block for our brothers and sisters and you have a very possible possession. I can't think of what else could explain it, assuming that it's all true. I hope it's just bogus but I'm worried it's something far far worse.

reincarnation was actually one of the earliest heresies the Early Church had to contend with. most exorcists say any actual knowledge out of the norm coupled with outrageous claims like these are always demonic. if you find a report saying she actually spoke fluent ancient egyptian (and fluent latin), yep dat's a demon

I also forgot to mention the whole being an advocate for reviving Egyptian paganism, which makes it even MORE likely that she was possessed. May God have mercy on her for her affliction.

Thought of reincarnation is just as puzzling to me as "demon possession from falling down". I've never heard of that either. I think it best that we just leave it in God's hands. It's the first I've even heard of this woman, so it's not likely a big issue the church needs to address.

First off, she's already dead.

Second off, nobody is saying the fall caused her to become possessed. More than likely, a possession would have occurred prior to the injury and the fall was used to explain why she was acting different. The fact of the matter remains, this has a lot of the hallmarks of demonic influences.

Thanks for explaining, but that's what it sounded like. That this manifested after a fall. Akin to one of those superhero accidents or something.

In any case, I'm not even sure the story is true, and I'm honestly too uninterested to look it up. I used to look up in some strange cases like this, but over time, they mostly pissed me off and sounded like charlatans or their predictions never came true (in the case of "prophets" and psychics).

I get that, it's easy to burn out over that stuff. I can't be sure that the claims of what she did are real either, but the wiki seems to suggest a lot of people thought she was the real deal. Regardless of the truth in the story, it's promoting the idea of reincarnation which we already know is bogus.

Demonic possessions are often painful and temporary. I think Dorothy Eady is just a really smart but mentally disturbed lady who's obsessed with Egypt.

Says who? Exorcisms alone can go on for years at a time, I don't think it's outlandish to believe an untreated, full blown possession can go on for longer. What reason would a demon have to stop the possession if it has been productive in bad fruits?

>Exorcisms alone can go on for years at a time

Evil spirits can follow a person for a long time, but they can't posses them 24/7. People that are possessed lose control of their body, fully or partially.

In my opinion, she's either a mentally disturbed genius or a lady who made a pact with the demons. Demons can help people foresee the future (because their intelligence is far above human beings and therefore can calculate outcomes more accurately humans, though still not without flaws) and the past (because they have existed for a very long time). Either way, she's really obsessed with Egyptian culture.
