When I was a little kid I read that cool book I posted as picture.

Thing is… I was a little kid a loooooong time ago, and remember very little of it.

I wanted to know WHO can bless… I believe the book defended that any authority can bless those under them (as in… not invoke God to bless, but bless directly, like when Isaac bless his sons, not like when people say "God bless you" when they are departing form each other)

I have no clue about the religion of the person who wrote that book. As far as Orthodox Christianity goes, any Orthodox Christian can bless something or someone by making the sign of the cross, but only clergymen can bless with the ICXC hand gesture.

I'm not sure why we would want to bless in our own names when God is much greater, and we are all equal in Christ.

As for why… the point of his book is people curse accidentally too often, he uses examples like when a dad says to his son: "You are useless and will never amount to anything on your life" and stuff like that, he can end casting a curse, because the bible is full of examples of the power of the word, so his reasoning is that people should do the opposite.
