The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

I'm unable to separate the idea of praying to Mary from worship of Mary, especially given the structure of the rosary. I know that it's not supposed to be thought of as worship but how is it justifiable to pray the hail Mary so much while praying so much less directly to christ or the father?

Well there's a hundred different ways to pray, and the rosary is just one. For many people it might be the most time consuming prayer they do, but the purpose of it is to meditate on the mysteries not necessarily to hyper focus on Mary alone, and most of the mysteries are related to Jesus. If it's any consolation the entire first half of the Hail Mary prayer is pulled from the first chapter of Luke, and the second half is a petition for help. The prayer is not meant to just be a Marian circlejerk, it's just a very long winded way of saying, "Mary, pray for us".

Understandable.

I'd say try to stay cool and make an emphasis in the fact that you're asking Her to pray for you.

With time, you'll get used to it. It happened to me a couple of times. But if you rush it, you'll only get more insecure.

Remember that Mary is the one that first revealed God to us. I'm no theologian but it's simple in essence: a common path towards God is through Mary.

Consider that all prayer is directed to Christ even when using a mediator like a saint. If you still feel like you are not praying enough directly to Christ, you could always do more prayer to Christ. Daily mass is best.

I'm not roman catholic but I can defend why I pray to saints.

Praying is not a divine slot machine that if we hit hard enough we'll get what we want. Prayer is not simply asking God for something, although we tend to ask a lot.

It is estabilishing a heart to heart connection, or noetic communication with the God Himself and the people in God's energy and Church.

Either does God's word

>non adorabis ea neque coles ego sum Dominus Deus tuus fortis zelotes visitans iniquitatem patrum in filiis in tertiam et quartam generationem eorum qui oderunt me

Exodus 20:5
