To be honest I've never really considered them, but a secular friend of mine sprung it on me. He's a very careful listener and doesn't rush to conclusions or I wouldn't have brought up religion at all with him. My faith is very new still, so I haven't thought about everything.
The thing is, I've long since ruled out rationalism, and I've also ruled out fideism. This is awkward, because then angels are a logical trap as far as I can see; I can't just accept them on faith alone without good reasons because that would be heretical, but rationalizing them away is equally dissatisfying and secular. If I apply pure rationalism to the question of angels, then I walk back on faith, but my faith has improved everything so much, and rationalism has proven so false that I cannot return to it.
I don't think it's necessary to have a completely confident argument about angels, nevertheless, I need help.
