The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Need some assurance, brethren.

I have anxiety, and I've been focused on the idea of my mortality, that one day I will die (unless judgment day comes before then)

But because I think about that, I also makes me worried about if its all a lie, that there is no God and we're only deluding ourselves to make us feel happy.

So please, fellow Christians, help me out here in the darkness and show me things to give me comfort. What are we promised? How can we get closer to God when we no longer hear His voice?

Anything is possible with faith. Simply do not doubt.

If you lack Faith, Hope, and Charity then you should ask of them from God. These are theological virtues, meaning they are gifts which we cannot by our own wills acquire.

>These are theological virtues, meaning they are gifts which we cannot by our own wills acquire.

This is very true. I have indestructible faith but it's because of knowledge I happened upon at exactly the right times. God decided He wants me to have to faith so He set up things in such a way that I have it.

is this some sort of test of faith, then? Taking away my faith so that I may have it again?

>we're only deluding ourselves to make us feel happy.

You think Christianity is the key to happiness in this day and age? If you take it seriously you basically become a pariah. It's much more easier to numb yourself in the comfort culture that is the 21st century and forget about death altogether (because once you're dead you just sleep) than restrictiong your base instinct in the hope you might go to heaven… A heaven that isn't even defined, we know nothing about it. We can't even fantasize like muslims about the virgins harems, the honey, the wine.

Christianity depiste its call of meekness it the way of the warrior.

Take up your cross and fight

it sometimes happens that God will draw His hand away from us in order to purify our love for Him. after all, He does not want us to love security or afterlife or whatever else… He wants us to love Him for His own sake. St. Therese of Liseux experienced a total darkness of faith at the end of her life, and instead of worrying about it, she simply kept praying and trusting in God. the security is just a feeling… supernatural faith is not something we can detect or feel

There are many things promised to us, but the most valuable things to me are:

> The presence of God (Psalms 145:18)

> Becoming children of God (Revelation 21:7)

> Being family of Jesus (Matthew 12:50)

> The friendship of Jesus (John 15:14)

> Fellowship with God and Jesus (1 John 1:3)

The God of the Bible is one that wants us to have a deep and personal relationship with Him. The two things that are vital in our relationship with God are faith and absolute surrender. Your walk with God starts upon your surrender, which is something you must do from your heart. Regarding faith.. I can only point you to Romans 10:17, John 6:63, and John 7:16-17. Read His words, implement His teachings in your life, and trust His promises (obedience and trust are also part of surrender).

And as stated in Psalms 145:18 and James 4:8, God will draw nigh to you, if you draw night to Him. So do that. Treat your walk with Him as a relationship (because that's what it is). Spend time with Him and pour out your heart to Him. Tell Him everything that is on your mind throughout the day. Get to know Him, through His words, and through experience.

As humans we do have many shortcomings, but don't let them discourage you. Know that we can ask God to help us with all of them (Psalms 51:10-12, Psalms 86:11, Mark 9:24, Matthew 7:7-11).

It's not that you don't hear his voice, it's that you don't listen to Him. Read His word daily and He will guide you and show you what you need to know.

Also pray daily, at any time, pray without ceasing

Get a journal and write down the things and times where God answered your prayers

Also if you need proof God exist, look into the prophecies, see how they all come into motion, and the things that WILL come, that will show you that God is real, and He is the creator of everything.

We are promised an inheritance of heaven and to be with God, free from the curse of sin (death, suffering, pain, etc). Read Revelations where John described in detail the kingdom of heaven

God has all the answers, all you need to do is read His word daily friend, and be patient and wait with hope. I was once in your shoes, back then I was lazy to read His word and then my faith started to run out, and I became once again lost and doubtful. But now I read His word daily and my faith has become abundant again

>I am the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to the father except by me

>If the world hates you, know that it hated Me first.

Jesus was then betrayed, hated by many, tortured, and killed.

To be christian is to suffer.

Well i think christianity gives me comfort because it gives a reason to live, a meaning in life. Nonbelievers think there is nothing after death. The masses become depressed; they think they suffer in this life for nothing. We KNOW we suffer for a reason, and we know there will be better times for us.
