The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Ok well to be honest I've been non-denominational for years. So anyways I've been going to a certain protestant mass.So I dunno I liked the ritual of it all, but the priest had no energy and choked on his words a lot. The readings were good, They dont really seem to comment on it or make a lesson of it like protestants do, it was like you could tell an old reused homily about a widow, like it felt like ive heard it before.

The church goers well they seemed fairly devote for the first 20 mins, then you could tell they didn't want to be there, about half the mass left 15 mins early before the end right after the Eucharist.

One funny thing is on the exit doors it said "Judas left Mass early"

Didn't seem like they mentioned Mary a lot only in relation to the virgin birth and they only mentioned the church Saint once at the end.

You went to a "Protestant mass"? And well yeah you probably went to a lazy parish. I've been going to a Latin Mass parish and the homilies are pretty good overall.

>>727081

Yeah it's called the "Judas walk" when you leave Mass right after communion :) Just a nickname in some places.

The mass is a celebration of the euchurist, at the first giving of the euchurist Judas left early so he could give up Jesus

Funny thing is the abomination of the mass wouldn't exist for about a thousand years after the death of Judas Iscariot

It's pretty easy to follow along. They give you a book (or you can follow along on your phone with the Laudate app) which shows the Latin next to the English translations. You don't actually have to know what is going on though, there's just a great experience with the music (the whole mass is sung and chanted) and everything. The Gospel readings are chanted in Latin but then repeated in English before the homily though, and the homily is in English. One advantage of going to a Latin Mass parish is that you're far more likely to get a conservative down to business priest who talks about strong and relevant spiritual matters instead of feel good hippy priest who is just there to tell the congregation that everything is fine and dandy.

Yup, and he left right after communion! Haha :) Also, since he was in an improper state (state of mortal sin), when he received the Eucharist, it caused the devil to go into him. That's why we warn and tell people not to take the Eucharist if they're in a state of sin, becuase instead of benefiting you, it can spiritually harm you.

I meant I normally go to a protestant mass.

They actually chanted everything but the reading and homily, I'm gonna try mass when a different priest is there. No worry about them being conservative or not where i live.

>the Lord's Supper didn't exist until ca. 1000 AD

I've attended Mass at at least 7 Catholic churches and I've never seen that. I'm not surprised it exists, before V2 there was a parish about 40 minutes from where I live that was notorious for having a priest say Mass in 20 minutes and everyone wanting to get out as soon as possible. Thankfully in my experience those kinds of parishes you experience tend to just be bad eggs.

>Mass wouldn't exist for 1000 years after Jesus

Read St. Ignatius of Antioch's epistle to the Romans (c. 107 AD). He explicitly mentions the Eucharist and real presence of Jesus.
