If you read the chapter, it's obviously talking about Christ and those of his covenant. So how does this play a role within the church? Is this proof of purgatory if sin still needs to be cleansed after physical death?

Reprobate can be found in Romans 1:28, it isn't a calvinist invention. It's just those from whom God has withdrawn grace due to their unbelief.

How you would get "proof of purgatory" from this I am not sure. Basically the Lord's declaring at least one of David's heirs – if they "do not follow my statutes" – will live long enough to bear heirs, and the pattern will repeat so that "his line continues forever". Your sons don't need to live eighty years in order to have sons of their own. They can be punished "with the rod" at 30 if they're rebellious and still God fulfils His promise.

This is nothing to do with purgatory. Even if such a thing existed.

God's regard and disregard for Abel and Cain's sacrifice is also important here, Cain was not given grace to resist his sins, which ballooned into the first murder.

It's almost important to understand the implication in the context of Christianity, because it is only the Catholics that still re-present the Lamb of God as the Sacrifice, the full and infinite sacrifice that destroys all sin and death.

Burnt and sin sacrifices are obsolete, not the re-presentation of Jesus Christ in His Passion at Calvary.

If you do not eat of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, you shall not enter Heaven. St. Paul knew this, and said if you do not believe the Eucharist is what it is, you shall be damned, even to sickness unto death. What of those who refuse to eat? Or insult God, Christ, and His Church at the same time?
