The atheist mindset is quite foreign to me because the natural alignment of the universe on virtually every level, from the so-called cosmic coincidences to the principles of Chemistry and Physics like the quantum leap. The entire universe is aligned perfectly and mathematically in a way that is rationally intelligible to human beings, and furthermore, our brains are rationally ordered to ascertain that knowledge, though there is no evolutionary obligation for that to be the case. Most atheists I know claim not to hate God and to hate Christianity, many even claim that they want to follow Christianity without following it (they say things like "I get my morality from Christianity") but they never actually conform to any of it. In reality, most atheists hate God and hate Christians, it saddens me to say that, and I do not mean to generalize, but they all seem to have a genuine affliction against Truth and will do anything in their power to "disprove" it, even assuming completely irrational and contradictory propositions. Many of them claim to be open to Christianity, but reject it when they have the chance to, saying things like "I want to believe, but there is just not enough evidence" (apparently, though, there is enough evidence for this magical extracosmic force called the multiverse) when in reality they are looking for scapegoats to run away from their bad behavior. So I think that in the end of the day they choose not to open their hearts to God because they are too attached to the world, and thus will go to any extent to explain everything away so they can remain satisfied living like that. After all, it was for this reason that existentialism and vitalism had to be lifted from nihilism, lest even the illusion of meaning to life be lost for them.
