The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Is the KJV idolatry?

6e5aa6  No.716080

>>716079

Yes. Claiming a fallible translation is on par with God’s absolute word is idolatry.

No, but making thread after thread about it is.

7159db  No.716092

Is sawdust adultery? How can things be actions? But still, reword your question: the answer is still no.

Why do people worship a book? That's idolatry.

de132d  No.716101

>>716079

If you're "venerating" it, yes.

62ea52  No.716136

>>716083

But human translators aren't infallible. The Septuagint may be extremely close to the truth but that says nothing about translations.

0fe96f  No.716137

>>716101

I mean Cathodox people venerate art but they don't say that these things are perfect and infallible like the IFBs do with the KJV. Baptists think that the KJV is literally Jesus Christ.

1. Nobody worships the KJV, nobody ever has, probably nobody ever will

2. Steven Anderson was f saying you should worship a book, he even tossed the KJV around a couple times to emphasize that you shouldn’t worship a physical point. He was (poorly) making a point about every word of the Bible being the word of God

3. Steven Anderson is not the pope of IFB, the whole point of IFB is that there is no pope or general leader

4. FWBC prays, it’s not just a sermon. If you can find footage of them praying to the physical Bible, I’ll eat my own hair

5. Even if some church less than twenty years old did pray to the KJV, that wouldn’t make the KJV automatic idolatry. It’s been in use for over 400 years as just a Bible that isn’t prayed to

6. Objects/people don’t become idolatry once you pray to them. Some rural Indian tribe worships a motorcycle they found in a wreck, are motorcycles now idolatry? Some Chinese village worships dogs, are dogs now idolatry? Some sect in Arabia prayed to Mary as a goddess, that’s why Muhammad thought she was in the trinity. Is Mary now idolatry?

7. We have like fifteen different threads something out about the KJV right now. It’s not healthy to obsess like this over something you don’t believe in (that also applies to Baptists who constantly make mariolatry threads)

Stop it, get some help

Baptists think that the KJV is the infallible Word. It doesn't matter if they don't literally bow down to it, they put the work of men's hands on par with Jesus Christ. That's idolatry, plain and simple.

Jesus Christ only is infallible, not a pope, not a statue, and not a translation.

16fddc  No.716152

>We have like fifteen different threads something out about the KJV right now.

Half of these are made by people who couldn't respond to the arguments in favor of it so they made a new thread in the hopes of getting away from the discussion and changing it back into an echo chamber where everyone is attacking it. I wouldn't be surprised. It's the same guys who make the bait threads where they flaunt their idolatry.

>Baptists think that the KJV is the infallible word

Scripture is infallible, it’s the word of the Holy Spirit. Don’t turn anti-sola scriptura into anti-scripture

>>716152

No. All these threads are anti-kjv. I barely find any pro-kjv threads

Why is so hard to just be a good person?

>Is X idolatry???

In most cases poeple here claim X is idolatry without even defining the word.

I do not like Protestantism, I dislike KJV rants but I seriously doubt somebody considers KJV to be God,bows to it or makes sacrifices to it.

2d0087  No.717148

>>716079

Not inherently, but everything can be treated as an idol.

Lol wut?

I mean I disagree with KJV onlyists, however does that make it Idolized? Eh (in most cases). It's still the Word, however in outdated language.

1b5c5c  No.717717

I find it especially funny when KJV onlyists emphasize the "authorized" part, since "authorized" there meant what today we would call "copyrighted".

299b67  No.717727

>>717717

No it doesn’t, it means what we would call authorized. “This Bible has been authorized by the king.”

Anyway OP, the KJV isn’t idolatry cause nobody has ever worshipped it and nobody ever will.
