The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Many people clearly spend far too much time fiddling with their smartphones when they should be paying attention to the world around them and glorifying God. If you're addicted to pornography than a smartphone it an endless source of temptation.

>You who have button phones, does it help you to focus more on Christ?

wtf is this thread? Some random thread dressed-up as a /christian/-specific thread by adding the words "does it help you to focus more on Christ?"?

>do you fart or hold it in? For those who hold it in does it help you to focus more on Christ?

Nevertheless … I had a button phone until September last year when they shut down the 2G network.

Now I have an underpowered smart phone with about three apps.

Why the winnie-the-pooh do I need to have a phone that sings and dances?

I use an old flip/clamshell phone. Smartphones are addictive - or rather, having near-limitless information at your fingertips is addictive. And I have an addictive personality.

It's interesting to watch what people do if they forget their phone for a day. They don't know what to do with themselves any more. They've forgotten how to sit still and patiently do nothing. Smartphones beget more sin and suffering than positive utility.

As an aside, I moved into an apartment a few years ago where I did not have access to the internet for about 8 months. It was wonderfully liberating. I started reading books again, as well as watching baseball. But most importantly I was free from all the drama that permeates the internet, the constant shit-flinging articles and liberal pride. I recommend everyone try to go without the internet for an extended period of time.

I can see where he's coming from, though: phones are such pivotal parts of people's lives now that having a simple communication tool instead of the pocket computer might shut out some of the noise and temptations of the world.

I use a smartphone, but abuse its "restriction" setting to disable Safari so it doesn't show unless I navigate through Settings, enter the passcode, and enable it again.

I use a smart phone, but it's a become a habit I maintain out of weakness, because I can't stop looking at crap on the internet.

It is absolutely having a negative effect on my prayer life, and my attention span. In fact I'm sitting here with a bible in my lap and a smart phone in my hand trying to remember why I opened it up and started browsing this board.

Tech messes with your head…. I wonder sometimes how much of an overt rule the devil plays in it

The phone is actually useful for reading biblical passages or church documents on the go. It's a great tool if you use it for good things.

Like everything in life it can be used for evil as well but that's up to us.

I'm going to start leaving my tracking device (phone) at home and use it ad a pseudo-landline. I think this is ultimately the best way to break the conditioning of dependency on our surveillance.

If switching to a phone with less capabilities helps you focus, def. do so. I'm currently in the process of switching to cheaper computer components due to a similar circumstances with video games.

I'm too lazy to carry a disposable camera around with me. The only reason why I own a smartphone is to take larger photos compared to a flip phone.

>do you fart or hold it in? For those who hold it in does it help you to focus more on Christ?

This is a legitimate question if phrased “do you feel it helps you stay closer to Christ?”. Same goes for eating with your mouth opened, burping, picking your nose and doing other nasty things.

Yes, manners are Godly and practicing them means imitating Christ. Based /Christian always knows best. Who'da thunk it
