The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Hey, /christian/. I'm the guy who asks questions occasionally.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses.

Lamentations 3:37-38 Who has spoken and it came to pass, unless the Lord has ordained it? Do not both adversity and good come from the mouth of the Most High?…

Psalm 103:19 God is in control of all things and rules over all things. He has power and authority over nature, earthly kings, history, angels, and demons. Even Satan himself has to ask God’s permission before he can act

Proverbs 16:9 The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.

Proverbs 20:24 A man’s steps are from the Lord; how then can man understand his way?

Proverbs 16:33: The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord.

Proverbs 19:21: Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

Jeremiah 10:23: I know, O Lord, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps.

It seems to me that these verses imply Fatalism/Determinism. But as I understand it most Christians don't believe in Fatalism or Determinism. How do you reconcile your belief in freewill with these verses? It sounds to me like God controls everything and doesn't allow anything that is not his will. So how do we have freewill if someone else controls all our decisions?

Sorry, I have few safe for work pictures and I'm not downloading more unless I download them serendipitously.

Thanks for your insight in advance.

Free will to us is the choices we make - good or bad, for the Lord or not for him. We are bound by time so we can’t understand he full ramifications of our actions. But to Him the is on High, He knows everything (since he beginning) and let’s us live with our choices. I think that is what Jose verses mean, God has known them before existence and has let it happen anyways - allowing it in that sense. The best we can do is hope for His guidance and that we are found perfect/blameless before Him when He comes like a thief in the night.

Look into Reformed Molinism friend.

Thank you, I'll look into what you sent me. I might send my response, if I read the whole thing.

I didn't read the whole text. Does it go into detail and say why I should believe any of the mentioned ideas? If it doesn't it's not for me.

It's by no means exhaustive, but it does give several reasons (both scriptural, and philosophical) why we should believe Reformed Molinism over strict Determinism.

I'll continue looking later. Hopefully God will permiss me to report back here.
