The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Pic only partially related since I'm Catholic, but for a while I've been thinking of joining a monastery. I was wondering if any Christanons know how do go about researching monasteries since there are so many and so few have good websites.

Some monasteries offer what they call monastic life retreats. Pic is trappist monk and retreatants in Washington state.

Been to Ortho monastery several times. I thought about it several times, I really feel terrible after returning to the world. However their confessors told me "I'd see you better as a priest"

Time will tell

Not monk, but I once wanted to be a priest. Then as I grew up I realized what a shitty person I am and that I would be an awful leader of my flock.

No priest, elder or minister "leads" any "flock".

>He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep."

God is the shepherd though, no priest, minister or elder can claim to be the shepherd, as priests, ministers and elders can be lead astray as any man or sheep can. Priests are not without sin.

>Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

>Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as your fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed, shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness; nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock.

Read your Bible please

I think the worst of us are those who don't see their own faults, and think without intervention can live without those faults. I would be very skeptical about anyone saying who think any different. I think you should ask why you really said what you did. Maybe it is that you would be a good priest, and that scares you. In fact you should be afraid, constantly vigilant.

Yes, they are amazing. They give up so much to God.

Here is a traditional catholic benedictine monastery:

Someone posted one of those "a day in the life of a" videos about some friars in another thread. Would think that highly relevant here.

>Has anyone thought about becoming a monk?

No, but then I'm protty. We don't have.

>>713184

>that much intense relevance to the pre-apocalyptic world
