The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

I went to confession today which takes place before mass. When I was done I decided to stay for mass which I had never done before. What I didn't know was it was Sunday's mass vigil, and not a daily mass. I am not sure what a mass vigil is. Am I still supposed to go to mass tomorrow or is it already done? From what I understand, you aren't meant to receive communion more than once a day, and technically the Saturday mass I attended was "27th Sunday ordinary time."

Thanks for the help.

Your Sunday Obligation is fulfilled if you attended the Vigil mass on Saturday. Sorry I don't have a source for you

Canonical Sunday begins on Saturday sundown. As long as it's the Sunday Mass, your obligation is fulfilled

>you aren't meant to receive communion more than once a day

Can anyone source me on this? Never heard of it

I think pope Pius X advices people to take the Eucharisty as much as they can if they're in a state of grace of course.

And besides priests who celebrate Mass in several parishes obviously take the Hoist more than once.

Don't take my word for it though. I could be mistaken.

Assuming you're a Catholic.

Can. 1248 §1. A person who assists at [i.e. attends] a Mass celebrated anywhere in a Catholic rite either on the feast day itself or in the evening of the preceding day satisfies the obligation of participating in the Mass.

From: http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG1104/_P4N.HTM

Can. 917 A person who has already received the Most Holy Eucharist can receive it a second time on the same day only within the eucharistic celebration in which the person participates, without prejudice to the prescript of ⇒ can. 921, §2.

I didn't find any justification based on the length of a "canonical Sunday". It would be a strange thing to think about, anyway. If the canonical Sunday began at Saturday evening, shouldn't the canonical Monday begin at Sunday evening? In which case, the Sunday evening mass wouldn't fulfill the Sunday obligation.

You can receive the Eucharist as many times as you want in one day, but you must have been attending mass from the offertory.

>have I obeyed the rules well enough, anons?

You catolicks … is this really all your faith means to you? Obeying rules?

The framework of obedience in which to flourish, the 'minimum' but not the limit.
