The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

recently, I've been having trouble keeping to my faith. I've been asking myself questions I never thought I'd have to ask. What if we're wrong? What if god isn't real? Advice?

First off, pray to GOD, praise Him and ask Him to help you.

Think about the times GOD has answered your prayers, and blessed you, and gave you all the good things

Seek answers to all the questions you have, about the existence of GOD, and Creation. Read books or create threads about those questions. These questions are like cracks in your faith, its not sinful to doubt but don't let them further damage your belief in GOD

His truth transcends reality. If He's not real, why do His trees bare good fruit? Even if what you say were the case, the Word is undeniable. Such things are evidence of a heavenly presence. No matter how you look at it, it all points to God.

>I've been asking vague, generalized questions

>but am too lazy to look for solid answers myself

>anon, give answers to my questions

Stop treating him with such disdain.

Faith is not a fashion statement, it's a struggle and hard work.

If God isn't real then you lose nothing except temporal pleasure and experiences which you won't remember since you'll be dead.

When I struggle with faith, I remind myself of the things God did for me (and still does). The events that led me to Him, the way He teaches me through His word, the prayers that He answered, and how He gives meaning to my life.

I also remind myself of how ridiculous the alternative (atheism) is. Atheism basically tell us "we came from apes, which came from fish, which came from primordial soup, which came from rocks, which came from nothing". It requires an immensely rich imagination to actually believe this..

Simply looking around can help too. The world is incredibly complex, yet completely rational (since the laws of nature are mathematical). There's just no way all of this can come into existence out of nothing. Even atheists have to admit that the probability of a universe like ours coming into existence out of nothing (assuming it is at all possible), is so incredibly small, that it is comparable to winning the lottery, with the same numbers, every single day of you life.

If I were to point to a brick wall and claim that the bricks baked and arranged themselves to form a wall, you would probably think I'm crazy. Does it really make sense to say that our universe, which is trillions of times more complex than a brick wall, came to be out of nothing?

Pray to God, anon. Ask Him for help (Matthew 7:7-11), and put your trust in Him (Psalms 18:30), and you will not be disappointed.

Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

hebrews 11:1

"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen"

by this we understand that Faith is itself a proof of spiritual quickening, and the rest of the chapter goes on to say that such Faith makes a man righteous before God

if we also embrace ephesians 2:8 which informs us that;

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God," … we understand that such saving faith is an alien virtue to natural man, and must first be instilled in him by a miraculous act of God - bringing a dead soul to Life by the power of the Holy Spirit, resurrecting that which was once dead in its Sin

(see verse 5)

now it's natural to have doubts

… but if we use the word 'natural' in all it's senses including 'fallen', 'perverse' and 'corrupted', then one's natural mind which is at enmity with God has need of being transformed by it's renewal* - which again, is a work of the Holy Spirit who imbues a man with Faith by the power of His word, for;

"Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ." - romans 10:17

so basically, if you want to have faith you need to go to the sole source of it: God's word – asking God the Holy Spirit to enliven it to you and thus make you faithful, so that you may be counted righteous in His sight

"Without Faith it is impossible to please God"

~

*ephesians 4:23

"…and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,"

romans 12:2

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."

If this isn't a concern troll, then my advice would be to pinpoint the cause of the doubt and do the necessary research until an adequate understanding of the subject has been reached. Unfortunately, our society is in such bad shape that a concerned person cannot afford to take for granted the usual information transmitted about subjects like religion and science, even such information that might have been received from many of their own leaders, who ought to, but too often don't know much better than many of the people entrusted to them.

The status of one's own eternal fate is the most important subject of anyone's life, so it deserves the attention. You will need to take matters into your own hands. You should be able to defend the Faith against nearly any objection, or at least be able to locate some already understood defense. If you can't, then that is evidence of a critical deficiency.
