Paul states in Romans that once the covenant was fulfilled, the barrier between humanity and Christ was torn down, and anybody can come to Him no matter their background, including those who are circumcised and uncircumcised.

So why does Christianity still practice this? It's clearly not necessary anymore, so why does the church still continue this practice?

Paul tells them exactly what he thinks of those who preach circumcision in one of the funniest bits of the Bible, Galatians 5:7-12 (read KJV first, then read ESV)

There are a lot of answers here depending on WHAT "Christianity" you are referring to.

United States citizens circumcising their children? Not Christian despite repeated cries of America totally being 100% Christian.

Some Protestant sect? Probably heresy.

They don't. I've never heard of a Christian who thought circumcision was necessary for religious reasons, except maybe a handful of legalist cults. Circumcision became popular in America not for any religious reasons, but because of supposed medical benefits touted by doctors. For example doctors used to think masturbation caused a slew of ailments and thought circumcision would reduce masturbation, although that doesn't seem to be the case considering America is the porn capital of the world. But yeah, it's really weird how anti-circumcision activists blame Christianity for circumcision in the US when it's popularity there has little to nothing to do with religion.

It doesn't. It's still popular in the U.S. because a bunch of English and American doctors in the 19th century said it prevent masturbation, and continued because dads thought "Well, I'm fine. Maybe he will be, too." The idea that it's for hygiene or religion is almost always retroactive justification.
