They don't. I've never heard of a Christian who thought circumcision was necessary for religious reasons, except maybe a handful of legalist cults. Circumcision became popular in America not for any religious reasons, but because of supposed medical benefits touted by doctors. For example doctors used to think masturbation caused a slew of ailments and thought circumcision would reduce masturbation, although that doesn't seem to be the case considering America is the porn capital of the world. But yeah, it's really weird how anti-circumcision activists blame Christianity for circumcision in the US when it's popularity there has little to nothing to do with religion.
